Hopefully, but then again it's been years. Maybe he doesn't want to make another NG and he could probably be over fighting games too, he can make a spiritual successor of DOA but idk if he'll be able to replace Kasumi who was his fave and he considered her a "daughter"

If anything for all we know, it's also possible he only said that because he no longer worked for the company and didn't want to start over from scratch, or because of the risks making one vs the other fighting games out there.
