You are not far off actually! when I spoke to Terurock and Tanii at NEC, they both didn't like some of the DOA JPN voice casting (DOA5 at the time) except Leifang, Rig, Hitomi when I asked. While for us we tend to favor the JPN voice casting aside. I think hearing a different language from each other sounds more pleasing as our native language might be too common with each other assuming.

I think because like them, they probably hear the english and see the acting as serious/sounds good to the ears since some might not understand it but sounds good, similar to us with JPN dubbed games and anime in the west, it just sounds pleasing to the ears depending on what it is if it's set to JPN aha.
