Sounds like the KH community from the KH forums I know. Can't blame Max for his reasoning to playing the game at first as even I too only ever took an interest to KH because the FF Square characters and mascots were there, and the rise of the game's popularity from the first game entry was because of the FF characters to begin with.

Will admit that it is rather strange for Max to attempt that challenge while not being into the series, but people are taking it way too overboard yeah.

But hey, moment KH will be it's own forced identity (no FF support and full indoctrination Disney), KH community will start malding again when their main game doesn't sell like it's used to anymore while they wait 5-6 years for another game.

I think that there are many KH fans that are too invested into the series to just simply abandon it, to the point where they played every game on every console, even if FF characters wouldn't appear in it (might be wrong but iirc there were no FF characters in KH3 before Re:Mind dlc), no matter what path the series may take with or without Disney's decisions.

I do agree that most people gave KH an honest shot with the first game mainly because of the FF characters but now we're like 10 games in and most of the ppl that stuck with the series care a lot or even more for Sora, or Kairi, Riku etc. than many of the FF characters that make an appearance one way or another in the series. They can be so overprotective of their games though.
