He's boring tier, not mid tier.

He's epic tier, don't hate.

I'll chanting boring at every DOA offline event when someone uses Ein. But man every time i used him in 4 he put me to sleep. He's so boring. What is cool about him? He's so generic.
Zeo
Zeo
...You don't want me to go into generic characters in this franchise. Ein is/was one of the more interesting characters when he was relevant and... yeah I'm not going to. lol

Kinda a shame 46k is only +1, but he looks pretty solid overall, glad his 2p is +1 rather than -1 like doad.
Zeo
Zeo
Hitomi's 2P is +1 on hit too. It would have been unfair if Ein's had stayed negative. I was hoping for +2 though. All it gives Ein is a 12 frame mid and a 9 frame jab. The latter is decent but the former still isn't enough to beat out the fastest of characters.
MasterHavik
MasterHavik
his jab is i9?
Zeo
Zeo
No, he's got a 13 Frame mid and 10 frame jab. His 2P is +1 which makes his fastest options a 9 frame jab and a 12 frame mid. Hayate and Akira on the other hand gets a 9 frame jab and an 11 frame mid from +1, the fastest mid in the game .

Which is why I wanted +2, Ein can't take advantage of advantage as well as faster characters with that same advantage.
MasterHavik
MasterHavik
Hm that sounds good. I hope he does more damage. To be honest the problem with Ein is that he's mega limited.
Zeo
Zeo
That seems to be what the tradeoff is supposed to be as Ein's basic damage exceeds that of Hayate's. Ein's very basic but his moves are very potent and have good properties making it easy to get damage. The difference between Ein and Akira however is they have the same outline. Simple characters that do a lot of damage but Akira does a bit more damage and is faster with a 12 frame mid punch and low punch to Ein's 13.
Zeo
Zeo
As well as having a slightly higher potential damage output. Akira however is horrible at spacing and mid-range whereas Ein excels. In the end though they have the same basic outline of limited but very potent moveset. Akira simply being more difficult to use and having a better payout.

This makes me feel however that Ein is at his core a weaker Akira.
MasterHavik
MasterHavik
hmm...good breakdown. I get ya. It's fine if he's basic. I can't wait for 4k goodness.

Same here, it'll be scary even if it's nerfed. #1 Ein over here you heard it first.
MasterHavik
MasterHavik
yup only two launcher and one combo ender. So simple yet so much fun.
Zeo
Zeo
Not as simple as you think. He's got (Rise)K, 33K, 4K, 4H+K, 9P and 3P and 1KP. Some only launch on counter hit or in stun but that's 7 launchers in all.

He's only got his combo variants into 66PK and 6KK as his real combo enders, but Akira doesn't have many more.

These characters are only as simple as you want them to be. :p

MasterHavik
True true. I wonder how much of his DOA3 tools carry over. I heard he was a beast in that game.
Zeo
Zeo
I recall he was actually a true beast in 2, one of the top 3 characters in the game. He was less so of a beast in 3. He was exactly the same and just as good as in 2, it was just that every other character changed got better.

That's one of the reasons he gets worse every game but then they started nerfing him lol.
MasterHavik
MasterHavik
lol so you think his DOA2/3 magic is back in this one.
Zeo

After watching Chosen1's coverage I have a better opinion of him. He's got some decent tools and great damage. He's a little beastly so I see him being around mid tier or maybe even a little higher if he's got more tech to be discovered.

Chosen1 said he'd be one of the top characters though... I'm not buying that.
