Pai vs Kasumi is deadlock match up. Since Pai has better frame advantage, Kasumi has to space her & beat her with what she's better than Pai at. Pai's downside is the same as all VF characters: Lack of spacing tools. They have to get in & Kasumi has 66P 3K, 3KK, & 66K at mid range once they start trying to make their way in. And they're bound to make mistakes trying to close in.
Pai has her unblockable running kick in order to get in but that's about it. Don't believe me, ask Allan Paris. He plays them both. 5-5 at best for both characters.
Good advice. I'm too aggressive with Kasumi. Should have known Pai's range is terrible. Can dodge those annoying lows that stun. Also gotta keep that mix-up going. Her holds are scary.
Yeah, I don't think Pai is inherently top tier. I just need to learn her strings so I can block and punish them. Just gotta work on defense. She gets in on me so easily.
In that particular match even Sarah, since they both pick up frame advantage right of the top at neutral, they can be just as fast, but stand alone, the fastest are Kasumi, Christie, & Pai & soon Phase 4 since she'll have the 9i jab too. But they all have trouble at range. While Kasumi in most matches are bad at range, those are the very few match-ups where she's better in space.
66PP is my bread and butter. The Pai was playing smart and keeping too close for that to be a viable option most of the time. I also had a habit of not finishing the strings and the Pai learned my pattern. I should try delaying more.
