Well not necessarily. The manga is how the animes me influenced & start out but has more of its own tale to it too since they usually separate them from manga/comics. So, the animes are somewhat exaggerated & distorted. They're retelling DBZ's story that follows the manga & so will the brand new animated series of Sailor Moon.

I hate when that happens sometimes because it's like they're not really telling the truth & some of the fan fic things that people talk about are actually facts or could have possibly had a chance of happening, like Goku & Bulma instead of Chi Chi & Goku & then Vegeta & Bulma. Not saying that Goku & Chi chi doesn't go together because they do & make a lot of sense
