The point of guard breaks now is to keep you at advantage. If the player is smart, he won't attack, but if he does then you're probably going to win the engagement. Take Eliot for example. his 236p is +2 on block break or even 66p+k(+4), so he's gunna win that next engagement. Say the person stays blocking. This is where it gets interesting.

The idea is that when you keep breaking their blocks you're going to end up baiting them to attack, or move, and once that happens, you win. Mind games I pull with Eliot are coming in at +4 after 66p+k and when they know they're at disadvantage, I 236p right after, or 46p(-3).

They're both safe if the person retaliates, and if they try to hold, they've got a 50/50 shot since 236p is high, and 46p is mid. Most of the time 236p hits. Get where I'm going? Guard Pressure.
Sometimes spamming guard breaks doesn't work though. Safe moves after, or gutsy stuns ok?

Yes, that sounds good, but we have counter system and now, sidestep system, to nullify that advantage. Lisa has a 28(!) frame guard break that only gives +5 on block, for such a slow, linear attack, i think it should guarantee damage, especially with so many defense mechanisms in this game.

I think that frame advantage on block also gives an opponent more time to read your next attack and counter appropriately too, especially if they know the character.

That is true. I'm just telling you how I use it. For Side Stepping thats where the stuns come into play. Tracking moves will cut them off clean and clear(F+K for Eliot), and once that happens they'll be sitting there flabbergasted at your prediction. Also another option, SS with them if you expect it and when you do, make them eat a SS move.

As far as Lisa goes, which guard break is it? If it's an aerial one +5 is understandable. She has the jumping one which can't be crushed, and probably won't be jab punished, considering the person probably just got hit by the move that led up to it.
