Why would they put the price drop that low this early? They need to narrow the gap with Sony not make it wider.

MS lied about the Kinect being integral to the Xbox One's functionality. Think of it as penance for getting caught in a lie. And widening the gap won't stop Sony. I wouldn't put it behind them if they announced a $299 price tag at E3 just to outdo MS.
