Indeed, that's because png files aren't compressed, which means there wouldn't be any quality loss during the upload. Of course, they take more disk space but I want to have a large avatar and using indexed web colors looks shitty too. Uh well ... I guess I have to make the best out of it^^
I think online picture resizers wouldn't help me out there. You usually end up with an bad quality or such a small picture that doesn't show any details. Nothing my image processing software couldn't do as well.
Tokyo , my best advice , taht I can give you is , to download Ifranview , because it can make the size higher or little without make qualtiy worse. Here is the link ! http://www.chip.de/downloads/IrfanView_12998187.html
As you can see, my picture is already sized fine the way I want it. I just would like to have it's quality even better, which would be only possible by saving it as png image. Since FSD only allows 55kb file size, I need to use a compressed format and play around with color depth which is kind of a double windmill between quality and memory size.
XD
Guys, I know you really just want to be helpfull, but the problem is not how to resize the pictures. I can use a 5x5 picture as well if I want to do so, but the quality result and the level of detail wouldn't satisfy me, which is why I sometimes would like to be allowed to upload (larger) images in better quality.
It bugs the crap out of me not being able to have my avatars at 200x200 because when you click my name and it brings up that mini window there's a border around them. But, every other instance that doesn't happen and they look 100x better than jpgs.
