It matters. If he said faggot to someone who wasnt gay, I dont see how that makes him homophobic. Its not words that define someone as hateful, it is intentions.
Its like if I say the words nigga or nigger. Unless i am referring to someone directly in a hateful manner, those words should be relatively powerless.
