There really isn't one since comparing cores, Intel cores a are much stronger per core compared to AMD's but you can compare it to the FX series. The FX-8370 I think is comparable to the i5 4670

So would it just be safer to find a laptop with an Intel Core i5/i7 instead of an AMD equivalent? I'm not trying to spend too much on a new laptop, but I want to at least have a decent one that can handle Steam games.

Yup, I would go for an i7 that is quad core. the i5's on the laptop or dual cores
Fiend Busa
Fiend Busa
are dual cores*

There are dual core i7's too so be careful. The i7s that have a "Q" are the quad core ones

I see. I'll have to do more research. I know I want something better than my old Sony VAIO, which had an i3.

Yea, if you on a budget you should be fine with an i5 as well as long as you get one with a decent clock speed

Another quick question. Are AMD Quad Cores not powerful enough for gaming?
Fiend Busa
Fiend Busa
They are but Intel's cpus provide better performance like 99% of the time for gaming lol

Fiend Busa
I would always go for Intel chips unless you are on like a super tight budget

Why don't you build a gaming desktop instead?
Jyakotu

Lol, then I guess I'll stick with Intel Core processors then. i5 should suffice for most games right?
Fiend Busa
Fiend Busa
Yea though if you can afford it get a quad core i7

I would, but I'm incredibly lazy and on budget at the moment being a college student and all. Plus, I'm not a HUGE PC gamer anyway, but it would be nice to support the PC port of DOA5LR.

Get a custom built desktop PC then if you can, it is a lot lot lot lot cheaper and you will get more performance for much less.

Gaming laptops are quite expensive. Last time I checked the mid range ones start at like $1200 minimum lol

Yeah, I see. Hm...after all this discussion, I might as well not even consider it at all. I'll just stick with the console version. But whenever I do go laptop shopping, I'll be sure to at least get one with an Intel Core i5.
Fiend Busa
Fiend Busa
well if you only getting one for DOA then you don't need a top of the line one.

I figured as much. It's been so long since I've shopped for a laptop, because my old one lasted me all until my current year of college. But, if I buy something to replace something, I want it to be better.

@Fiend Busa I was either going to give it away or do another lower budget build.
