I have uncapped gigabit internet in HK, and there's no way I'll ever go back to UK speeds now. It took, quite literally, the time allowed for my kettle to boil and for me to put the teabag in, for my PS4 to download and fully install Destiny.
That being said, having it in the west is pretty much pointless, since very few servers can actually pump out enough data for you to make use of the line. If it costs you a bomb to get the gig, you might as well just settle for 100.
Here at least, one gig is the standard, so all the webservers support it.
Can't wait for 100 gig this summer when the Koreans start rolling it out ^^
There is no gigabit internet in general where I live. Only Orlando is blessed with that net in Florida. I'm in south florida, guess I'm stuck with Comcast for now.
@Zeo to be fair, most of our tv comes over the internet here, so it's important to have a fast line. 4K broadcasts are rolling out this year too, and it only takes a few of those in one household before you start saturating the current fibre.
@Zeo For gamers it's heaven tho - the lines are dirt cheap, so you get two - one for the tv, one for the net. I really didn't expect to be able to play with my western friends still, but it's only 120ms to the US. I ping better than a lot of them do :p
