Dunno, from being apart of this community for a very long time..the common situations are people picking him up and then never mention him again. Akira is a character you really have to sit down and play with. There's really no shame for picking him up and not succeed.
Not to mention that he builds from complexity and difficulty overall, he's just made that way so you can't really bypass that. People usually end up dropping him from either trying to attempt at least 1 knee or because their main character does not play like Akira.
Ah, okay. I was wondering, cause IIRC, I've seen like 5 or 6 "Akira"'s pop up recently, and I could not figure out why. Me and Hachi were also talking about how the execution barrier is preventing people from reaching his full potential, and I guess that also relates to people sticking with him in general.
I also wish more people would pick him up because he's a great and unique character. It forces you to commit to things you wouldn't necessarily do when you play as him. Great difficulty comes with great rewards and I don't see why not.
Upon gathering info with the site and playing the game, you also have cases where people just don't like the appeal of Akira or VF characters in general actually. Majority tend to exaggerate about VF characters being overpowered when the actual fact is that they are unfamiliar with them or they simply just choose to not adapt.
Oh, that's an easy answer.
Offline answer: Most people's main's already fit their needs, so if it isn't broken, no need to change it.
Online answer: Can't mash when they're in trouble.
But what do I know, I'm average xP I can't make assumptions like that.
I am also not biased with characters overall because there was a time where I actually wanted Akira's raw shoulder to be toned down in damage to a reduction of 85, but then I come to a realization from absorbing info is that he was made that way, it's not a unbalanced flaw. His character design and movelist is just how he is.
So to make it simplistic, it's like saying "Remove Hayabusa's Izuna drop because he shouldn't be doing that much damage from a throw." but the issue with that is that if you do remove that throw..then it's not Hayabusa. And it ruins a potential damaging throw for his game.
Overpowered = Don't know the match up. I mean at the very least everyone should know the Sarah match up, based on how many we see out there.
And even if one is "overpowered", how much execution is needed to perform? If I even see someone call a VF overpowered, I won't even explain how they aren't. I'll just simply say "Execution justifies."
Sarah is somewhat of an issue but not as a whole. Usually those cases are dependent on the character they use. Grapplers and slower strike speed characters are forced to make more reads than normal. Not all characters, but those are the usual when they run into Sarah. If I was Gen Fu or Christie..in a sense I should not complain about Sarah when I have ways to go around it.
People are gonna complain regardless. Whether it's justified or not is like you said, dependent on the character. I'm pretty sure there's an online soul out there that plays Gen Fu or Christie and calls Sarah OP. Now first off, whatever they're smoking, they need to stop. Second, if they do complain, it's honestly just to make an excuse to themselves as they were outplayed.
