Yeah, but the Mako replacement isn't all that great either...

I liked it. The sidequests and mako exploration felt like I was actually roaming a universe. As opposed to ME2 and ME3 which were just the same cramped hallways over and over. Sequels had better combat, but I say ME1 had way better atmosphere, immersiveness, and environments.
