I know that the sales of DoA Paradise on the West were low, but really the first 2 titles didn't sell in the west? Honestly I knew the opposite, I was at least sure that DoAXBV was a big success from a commercial point. Am I wrong? (honest question).

Even traditionally high-skewing sales numbers from VGChartz are pitifully low for both games. Less than 500k combined globally.

Ok, I see: evidently I got wrong infos along these years or maybe it was just a wrong impression radicated in my mind. I really believed that this was the classic case of many popular movie productions, that are able to get a low success of critique but again a big success of audience (at least for the number of tickets sold).

"Nobody else buys them" is still an incorrect statement. The game sold decent for what it was, clearly more people want it... and DOA always sells better in the states than Japan; always. Not smart.

Not meant to be taken literally. I did mention sales figures in a follow up, didn't I? In any case, when you have to add qualifiers like "for what it was," you're already acknowledging it's a niche title. Localization and marketing cost money and they can easily use this as a free-to-play paid DLC front.

Given that TN themselves have said on multiple occasions that most DLC is purchased in the Eastern markets, nobody should be surprised here.

It was fan service for a game franchise that already struggles in the market... taking TN's word for it is not what I'm going to do.

The fighting games (not to mention NG) do significantly higher numbers. Completely different leagues. Also, they knew they had a worldwide audience so unless another publisher steps up in the West, it won't see distribution here. It could be a ploy to gauge interest but I wouldn't be so sure.

DOAX is a spin-off so of course it's going to sell even less than DOA. It's just another trivial, beg for it strategy from Team NINJA.
