Depends on the type of player you are. Some people have fun because it's a more serious atmosphere. If your just showing up so you can win some money then that will kind of sucks the fun out of it. There are also casual sets/other side things besides the main tournament to unwind.

Never been to one in the US but it's really laid back in JP - the atmosphere, that is. There's tension whenever you go to a tournament but it's super fun. You should go if you get the chance @The_King_Edo
