Also, someone could help him on the run. Brad's stance is also a freestep that can avoid highs and certain mids along with a SS function if timed right while low. The jumping attack is not a bad option but the startup is slow for Jann, which Brad can take advantage of if it becomes too obvious.
8H+K is a pretty decent option, but i use mostly in neutral, Brad can still OH in HCH from certain attacks on block, the best option against Brad, and Helena as well actually, is 4P. 4P destroys both of those characters.
Take Brad's 236P for example, if he lies there or presses a button, he will get hit, 4P is a i16 true mid with a jailing NC followup. If Brad does 22 or 88 after it, he will avoid the followups, you have to hit confirm the 4P, if it whiffs, you free cancel and backdash, you're safe after that, even able to whiff punish after that.
Actually that seems more of a scenario on Brad's part for making a mistake. His first mistake is that he tossed in 236P which is roughly -8/-9 (assuming that's the correct one since I'm pretty sure that one can be punished from a low throw.) Running one is safe.
Now the 2nd part of the mistake for tossing a move that leads into the stance from a negative situation is that Brad has to risk making a read to avoid upcoming followups while in his stance, which he suffers greatly from. Now that's scenario A. Now the hard part is scenario B, moves that Brad gain advantage from that goes into laying down stance.
Scenario B is moves on NH (As well as CH) from Brad that provides him advantage but also leaving him in stance (2H+K[2P], deep stuns into BT2P+K, Deep stun> 44P, so the Jann Lee player has to be committed to make a read on the type of followups he will perform.
Which being on the offense from Jann is trying to convince the opponent that you chose the route to try and attack him from stance again, but instead, Brad took advantage and launched Jann for trying to attack him while on stance within the range of +1 - +19.
4PP from Jann Lee is actually a great option since there is a double risk scenario of catching Brad within the first freestep/SS off the stance. Brad has to make reads to even avoid the second, which is rare unless he knows for sure you will continue the followup. Though in certain cases, you might as well finish the entire 4PPP since Brad has no answer to that entirely.
Yes, scenario A is entirely benefitial for JL, since he doesn't have to commit to the followup and instead just has to react to what the Brad player does, which is either, get hit or SS, this also applies to punishes (Brad is a pain in the ass to punish).
Scenario B is more in tandem with knowing how much advantage Brad has, even after some options like 2H+K, 2P and 6P will beat out the Brad player if he attempts anything, if he does and OH or SS, you have 6P2K to deal with that.
You would use 4PP in the case the JL player SEs out of the situation successfully and the Brad player takes himself from scenario B to A, other than that you can be fairly patient and react to the Brad player's actions and patterns.
Scenario A's case, Brad messed up. He threw himself into the fire for that one. Not only is he tossed from disadvantage, but the move can also be stepped, as well as no offensive options to return back since the opponent is at advantage. Brad has to make a read here, which is hope for the best he did not get thrown or short sabaki lows while standing up.
Bottom two is a read, first one was a mistake from your opponent not throwing him.
Now scenario B is an instant issue because stagger escaping out of particular situations from Brad still puts him at advantage with the minimum of +1. Players won't stagger out of these situations because it's instant.
In doing so, it conditions the player to sort of attack at situations where you are favoring Brad for doing so. The ones you should stagger out of is moves within the first initial phase of a stun startup. Such as 2H+K etc. However when you are placed in any sorts of deep threshold, it puts Brad more advantage than necessary.
Well, even that is relative, moves like his running P are actually good tools against other character, is just JL happens to have a perfect tool for situations like that, the same applies to Helena.
