1) He's a major gaming icon who comes from the NG, his home series where he's the star. He's in DOA as a competitor an could personally wipe out all the others including DOATEC rather easily, but he chooses to let the ninjas do this themselves for the sake of their personal justice. Somewhat of a rival to Hayate as well as a friend.

2) Ryu is cool, like his design, style, izuna, and his appearance before DOA5, with the wolf bangs and better face and his ponytail of course is awesome. The shooted is also one of the best themes I've heard, and I like how he asserts that he has no weakness. I dislike his current appearance and somewhat jerkish personality, the fact he slapped Kasumi and that he has longer hair then her...that annoys me. -_-
