DOA5 Vanilla means the first DOA5 that came out in 2012 It's a good way to differentiate it from Ultimate and Last Round

why is it called vanilla instead of doa5/doa5u/doa5lr?

'cuz vanilla is another word for the very first installment of a game. at least i think so, anyway. If you just say DOA5 they'll be like 'oh, last round? or ultimate?" so it's better to just say vanilla.
so basically
DOA5 Vanilla
DOA5 Ultimate
DOA5 Last Round so you can differentiate them all.
