    I think it depends if it holds up or not. Like if the system was built upon it, the sacrifices isn't as severe. Open world these days get too ambitious and sometimes loses quality to fill a pseudo immersion when you have areas with open fields with nothing in it.

    Hot take. Not every RPG has to be open world and that some RPGs like Vesperia or even FF7 for the PS1, had something called an "Overworld" and was arguably a good formula that should stay / come back to at some point. Especially for JRPGs.

    I am curious as to why they did that. Matchmaking worked previously still even with those that didn't have it. It's extremely rare for games to straight up remove it with a patch/update even for games in Japan.
