I dont play the other games, just DOA and VF, but afaik in SF you dont get hit with a DP every wake up like you get stunned in DOA, Nor in VF you get half health damage on a simple CH P. a CH p will land you at +8, which is reasonable advantage but nothing guaranteed after that. So come back...

I dislike being put in a situation where I have only one defensive option (hold). I much prefer the system of VF where if I press guard I will guard (of course unless I am at minus 12, but getting hit does not generally put you at such large frame disadvantage in VF)

sure, but first you need to wall splat your opponent. as I said, you your opponent just guards, you are not going to wall splat him/her.

sure, damage is crazy in FS, but you have to land a launcher at least. it that situation, just guarding would have spared ayane.
