Buffering owo

Could someone explain to me how buffering works? I have an example, but not sure if I'm doing it right. I'm a Brad Wong player, so when I'm in his Lay Down Stance and I'm rolling towards the opponent I want to buffer the roll into 1K+H. So I'm rolling then pressing the free(hold) button then inputting the move to execute it. But, I"m not sure if that's the right way. If someone could clear that up it'd be very helpful thanks. :)

You can only buffer directional inputs. It's really only useful for things with more than one direction.

The best example is trying to pull off DOA4 Hayate's Raijin. You cannot do just the first part of the input on it own, as it's a full circle; you'll only end up jumping. So you have to buffer it. You can do that with a simple two-jab string, :p :p, which stops you from jumping and lets you complete the circle so you can get the Raijin started.

Another example is using, say, Hayabusa's :9 :k, which buffers his while-rising :4 :f+p (a common wakeup strat).
