DOA5 sales

Holy cow. DoA5 hasn't been out as long as Tekken and it outsold Tag 2 in Japan within its first week? That was totally unexpected o_O

Now that I think about it, it's been played the living crap out of in the arcades there, so that may have hindered sales in that region. I wonder how it's fairing so far in the states though...

Cool to see them out sell Tekken on first week sales. They're only like, 20,000 behind TTT2's overall sales (87.3K to date) on the PS3. The 360 version has already eclipsed TTT2's overall 360 sales in just one week. Granted, it's in Japan, but still.

This and TTT2 is still heavily played in arcades in japan. Still this is good news for DOA5 because the game seems be doing pretty well.

Tekken's in arcades anyway, but I'm still surprised people still bought it in Japan. Some of the guys who play Tag2 on arcades don't even have consoles. I expect more sales for DOA5 since it's on consoles.

Im not surprised at all VF5FS even sold well in japan even though its been in arcades longer in japan than TTT2.

That's because it's so cheap and it's great for practising at home.
Lol no sega themselves were surprised at the sales and japan just loves there fighting games. TEKKEN 6 and TTT2 were very popular in japan it should come to know surpise that theyd sell well on consoles.

The US sales will be a more accurate reflection of the two games' comparisons since the arcade version isn't available here. I'm hearing that Korea may pick up DOA5. Most of the Korean sites I frequent and people I know are actually surprised with the game.

Good stuff! Isn't DOA more popular here than in Japan? It will be interesting to see the "western" sales.

I might be wrong but doesn't Tekken release a game about every year? Maybe it's the idea of not wanting to pay big cash for almost the same game year after year.
Kinda like FIFA but less brainwashed people? Just a theory.
