How many of you play this game instead of DOA5&6 due to the graphics? How much will it garner interest again if remastered for Switch 2?

The graphics of DOA5 and DOA6 turned off some DOA fans because of the changes in the character’s looks that made me wonder if DOAD for the post Itagaki era to be the playable DOA game?

DOAD is the only game Team Ninja didn’t change the graphics for which is a good sign that later when it gets remastered for Switch 2, it will appeal to DOA fans again and that the graphics will remain the same for DOAD2 if they consider making it.

The graphics of DOA5 and DOA6 is a good example why DOA is a disaster right now and bringing back the old graphics in a modern form is the only option to see that Team Ninja is showing signs of making the right move to keep DOA alive.

If you play DOAD over DOA5 and DOA6 because of graphics for some time, all I can say is that you are in for the ride of what is to come when DOA starts to return to Nintendo consoles and then to PS, XBox, and Steam consoles once more.

DOA5 released only a year and change after Dimensions, so both were likely worked on simultaneously. With that said, visually, Dimensions appears to be an experiment to see what Dead or Alive would look like with realistic graphics, which is why DOA5's palettes resemble Dimensions. The only reason I would play Dimensions is because I can't play 4 on my PC, and even then, the experience is lacking because I don't like the retcons in the story, you can't control your tag character. The gameplay changes were interesting, but the game to play is as limited as DOA6 outside the Challenges.

On the topic of a remaster, they'll have a lot of work to do. Since it was designed for the 3DS, there are things that will have to be remade for consoles that support more than 2 local players, such as Tag. They will have to:
1. Figure out what to do with the touch-screen controls. Probably reimplement it as a modern controls thing, but how, idk. If they just remove it, so be it. Not like I can imagine anyone using it outside of grapplers who can't remember their chains.
2. Rebuild the menus since the 3DS uses two screens for multiple windows such as main menu, character select, story mode, and practice.
3. Give Shiden a character slot on the screen, since players don't seem to care for secret/hidden content as much anymore.
4. Add local versus (including Tag).
5. Implement a new online system
6. Visuals; There is a strong demand for vibrancy of color, so probably revamp the colors on screen using DOA4 as a reference. Currently, the shading looks good, but on some stages, the intensity of the light distracts from the character models. I'd suggest an improvement to texture quality, since they atlas/pack textures up to 512s. Probably bringing that up to 1024 or 2k would help for story mode since console players would be playing on a much bigger screen than the 3DS.
It'd also be nice if they scrapped the hit effects.
EDIT: In regard to the intensity of the lighting, I remembered why it looked off to me, and it was because it reminded me of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. I don't know if it is due to bloom, but it's distracting:
That's all I can suggest in regard for a remaster. I don't expect them to remake model assets like they did with Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. Not for Dimensions, at least.
