How should TOs go about dealing with the unlockable content?

Since the game had 4 characters that need to be unlocked this presents an issue for us folk who actually run tournaments. The question now then is, how should we handle them? More often than not, we're going to find ourselves in a situation where a console in use in the tourney doesn't have the characters unlocked (or has never been used for DOA5 at all).

Copy save file over.

If I could get the characters unlocked on a local profile on an Xbox 360 USB drive, save the content on my PC and zip it up, verify that pasting the content onto a different USB drive would show the save file then I'd post it up on FSD.

Since it's offline profile, there's no account info for Xbox LIVE or DLC tagged to it.

For PS3, I haven't tested if the save file copy & paste would be allowed.

How did TO go about unlocking characters in Vanilla Street Fighter IV, MVC3, SCV, and MK9?

Mk9 required that you beat the entire story mode for Quanchi

SFIV required playing though arcade mode numerous times, and had strict conditions for Akuma and Gouken.

MVC3 required a little play, naturally unlocked.

SCV has character DLC, and requires story mode/legendary mode.

If you skip all the cutscenes it would take 20-30 minutes to unlock Akira, Sarah, and Genfu. Getting a 100 titles for Pai would be the only thing that takes a little time.

USB xtaf and Horizon work well for the 360..

For ps3..hmm..you could try uploading your save to psn +,log in to your account on another ps3 then download the save there..
since a psn account can only be activated on 2 ps3s at a time..deactivate them online and repeat the procedure on the next batch of ps3s..
i'm not really sure if this works but it's worth a shot.

You're thinking too much into the PS3. You just don't register a PSN account to it, copy the profile and its save to usb, then put that in the next PS3.

Same for the 360. The xtaf and Horizon are modification programs to resign the save files to a different profile than that of the original profile, which can get you banned from Xbox LIVE as they do check for those types of things.

We complained to Capcom so they took out save file restrictions and unlocking in games post vanilla SFIV. They also give out free DLC to TOs of major tournaments.

Also, you forget Alpha-152, unless off course she's been tourney banned.

Haven't been able to test this as I only have one console. However copying from one profile with no PSN to another also with no PSN does not work. Not sure if the profile names have to match.

This would be great. I am NOT looking forward to unlocking characters again when it's time to host a tourney. Too much wasted time. Looking forward to someone getting a universal save file uploaded for the competitive community.
