Koei Tecmo at TGS 2025 (Mega Updates Inbound)

Despite there not being an announcement of a brand-new Dead or Alive fighter this year, it has been an extremely exciting and busy year at Koei Tecmo where the publisher and all of their development studios have started this evolutionary process within their business that has not only been an enticing time for fans, but has ushered in a new audience of players that want to see what all the fuss is about; or even returning players that want to see what has changed. This has unequivocally been the year of the NINJA and I'm not really talking about Shinobi; I'm talking about NINJA GAIDEN; the absolute epitome of Super NINJA madness in a myriad of ways.

Whether you've slayed countless fiends in NINJA Gaiden: Ragebound, returned to NINJA Gaiden II with II Black, or have waited for the main event that is NINJA Gaiden 4; Free Step Dodge has been obliterating with you every step of the way with consistent updates, reviews and all the Koei Tecmo entertainment you could ask for in one methodical place that I do believe is the best News Site & Forum for games on God's green earth. I'm aware that we have a ton of readers and lurkers that have yet to sign up, and I strongly encourage you to do so today as we are close to hitting our 10,000-member milestone.

Tokyo Game Show is a BUSY time and of course it is the E3 within Japan. There are a lot of games, a lot of news updates and a lot of entertainment coming your way and you are going to get EVERY sip of information here in this post so stay active and stay reading for the latest information organized in a way that only FSD can do. Also expect lots of sales from Koei Tecmo for your favorite games such as: Dead or Alive 6 & Dynasty Warriors Origins.

Pre-Show Content & News

Now, I will say that Koei Tecmo has had one of their most exciting years of all-time not just in terms of business and numbers but with redefining nearly every franchise under their prestigious umbrella. That bar continues to be raised as they continue to also show massive respect to their past games, such as Dynasty Warriors 3 (shown at today's PlayStation State of Play) which is coming back to the market with brand new graphics and a first-time release on Steam. They are working hard to increase their reputation on the platform as well as their robust portfolio. Things sure have changed in the past ten years from how it used to be to what it is now in terms of PC port quality.

Has Lu Bu truly become the poster boy of Koei Tecmo? I would still argue that Kasumi is still the poster girl for the company, but Lu Bu is clashing hard with our Super NINJA, isn't he? While we are talking about both flagship franchises let's not forget that Hayabusa became available in Warriors: Abyss and that this reunion of Koei Tecmo characters is expanding with our main hero from Dynasty Warriors: Origins joining the roster, and with that game itself getting an expansion that should have more details coming soon.

From the PlayStation State of Play we also got an awesome release date trailer for Team NINJA's Nioh 3 which has beautiful landscapes and massively improved movement and speed. This title is being released on PlayStation & Steam February 6th of 2026 and there are plenty of purchasable premium options to boost your experience as a fan. There is going to be a steel-book edition with bonuses and a treasure box full of Nioh 3 themed goodies.

Team NINJA is also returning to their Season Pass schematic alongside the Digital Deluxe Edition and Pre-Purchase Bonuses such as the Hell-Frost and Hell-Fire Warrior outfits with their visceral looks being showcased in Team NINJA's release date trailer!

Don't forget that most people are including Nintendo's September Direct as a Pre-Show extension to TGS which saw the announcements of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake and Pokopia - the first Pokémon themed builder with Koei Tecmo & Game Freak at the Helm. If you haven't already, check out our news post for FF2 as it includes some words from our CM and the real-life Super NINJA, Master. These are some very intriguing titles shown at the Nintendo Direct that show the undisputed diversity and range of Koei Tecmo.

We've also got some NINJA Gaiden 4 updates that give us some incredibly animated gameplay. You can tell that that Platinum is pouring their heart and soul into the combat of the game. Imagine what Bayonetta 3 would have been if it wasn't tied to the limitations of the weak Nintendo Switch! That's what I believe in some ways you get here. This is the perfect coupling of Metal Gear, Bayonetta and of course Team NINJA's NINJA Gaiden. Platinum demonstrated the flow and power of Yakumo perfectly with this 12-minute gameplay extravaganza.

Microsoft also recently hired a renown katana maker to forge replicas of Hayabusa's Dragon Sword and Yakumo's Katana which is called the Takeminakata! I'm curious what will become of these masterpieces and have reached out for more information. Until then please enjoy the video and narrative provided by Team NINJA & Microsoft.
