Hello fellow DOA enthusiasts! We Hit Buttons is a group of tournament organizers based primarily out of the Northern VA area that runs monthly events for various fighting games across the board. A few key concepts that set us apart from the other event organizers out there:
- WHB itself is a small admin team that is responsible for acquiring venue space, supplying equipment and ensuring quality of events. The actual tournaments themselves are run by separate teams which are made up of people who are dedicated to and care about those games/communities. This guarantees that each community receives the treatment it deserves!
- We run 10 – 12 events each year with anywhere from 1 to 3 games at each and no game being repeated on consecutive months. This policy allows us to give the spotlight treatment to communities that historically are overshadowed by the bigger games at larger events.
Which brings me to this post, while I’ve played fighting games my whole life DOA was the first to truly push me into the realm of competitive gaming. As a result I have much adoration for the scene and would love to see the latest installment succeed! So as an Admin for WHB I plan to make a big push for a DOA group this coming September, but it can’t be done without first showing proof of support!
So at our Tekken 6 / Soul Calibur V event in May I will be running a side tournament for the DOA5 Alpha Demo and I encourage anyone with interest to come on out! I have the demo for both PS3 and 360 and we’ll be playing on Asus VH236H monitors. This is mostly for fun/exposure and to hopefully lead into a full fledged group upon the release of DOA5! I’ve talked to quite a few of our regulars about it and have already started garnering interest in the idea. There will be quite a few interested faces who have yet to truly experience a DOA and this would be a great opportunity to show them what the game is about.
Hope to see you there!
