One Way Street Lagfest?

Is it me or do you have times where you play against a guy online and the lag is like, miserably horrible and spiking all over the place. And then you PM him and ask him if he was lagging too, and he says "No, my connection was fine. What are you talking about?"

I mean what in the world in going on? Either his standards for netplay is really poorly low, or, there is some technical issues being held here.

I don't believe "lag hackers," but is that a possibility? I dunno. Tell me what you think

With peer to peer, there is probably some host advantage going on. That alone doesn't change much though.

I would say the biggest thing that pisses people off from other fighting games when they go online is the amount of additional guessing they have to do in situations that is caused purely from online play.

In DOA however, you are already guessing a lot. So to someone who plays DOA a lot and has already thrown a lot of solidity from their game plan, the lag doesn't honestly change the situation too much for them. It can make the netcode seem "not so bad", even if it is atrocious by the standards of a game where a single guess is worth more than six in this one.

Just my theory, anyway. Not everyone plays super guess heavy, but a lot of people do and, it's the most universal way to play the game.

Except your educated "guessing" or reactions don't get any rewards, only smacks in the face, all because of the delay.

Online annoys me beyond 1-3 games.

You using a wireless connection?

Guessing is guessing is guessing is guessing.

DOA is the ONLY game in which I can be at +11 and I'm still afraid to attack... >_>

Thats what people keep blabbing about. I never saw anything official, personally.

And no one knows if it is THE patch, or simply A patch.

That'd be great (if THE patch came in a week)

Back on topic: YES, depending on what side of the screen I'm on, I tend to notice more input lag or less.

Input lag isn't the same for both players, since sometimes I start a round with a faster attack of the same attack level (e.g. mid vs mid) and still get beaten out. Or maybe the other player just inputs it in advance. I don't know. Very frustrating in any case.

I'm new to this site and I don't know how news is spread around for DoA5, so do you have a link or an article anywhere that talks about the big patch?

Best way is to follow front page news and Team Ninja's twitter. I believe Team Ninja is still accepting suggestions for the balance patch, you just have to add #DOA5_balance at the end of your tweet.

I think people have found ways to cheat with lag. I've had several matches that are perfectly smooth until I begin a combo string. Then, and only then, would the game lag up so bad that my string gets interrupted. As soon as my blunder ends, the game picks back up to normal speeds again. When it happens every single time, it is no longer a coincidence.

Probably a lag switch. People actually buy this and can force a lag on opponents. Pretty lame.
