Open possible non-intrusive solution to AI bots hammering the server

just saw 4000+ "guests" while the forum was unusably slow again, which made me think

I read a genius little anti-AI strat once https://fxgn.dev/blog/anubis/
in other words, the typical kneejerk reaction of the average webmaster these days is help I'm overloaded -> brb installing Cloudflare/Anubis/a million different blocklists, which is overkill and very annoying for the end user with many casualties

but finds out the LLM bots flooding the net don't run javascript at all (yet) so from what I understood something as trivial as this would be sufficient to c0ckbl0ck them without annoying users:
- the server only lets visitors with the LET-ME-IN cookie through, the rest see a blank page (exception: allowlisted good boy known search engine indexers Googlebot/Bingbot etc. should bypass this requirement, just in case)
- the visitors set a LET-ME-IN cookie once on 1st visit that lasts 1 year using JS (aka the blank page in question) and reload the page (which will now redirect to the forum)

as I finish writing this the site loading is back to normal, but maybe this rambling will be useful for the future lol
