Returning to the game, and looking for some training, also a Steam question

I just got my internet back on a couple days ago, and I have been playing DOA5LR ever since then. Even though I've been playing the last couple days I feel like I'm not getting so much training done on all the people I fight....I usually get stuck in a combo where I can do nothing but sit there and watch myself get my ass kicked. Any way out of these?

But I'm really just looking for someone to spar with, specifically a new player so we would be on the same level but however experienced you are doesn't matter to me. Also I'm playing on PS3, you can find my username on my profile. If you're too lazy, pikamewchutwo. Same as my username here.

As for the Steam question, I plan to get the game as soon as possible but I want to know first before I spend any money if the game will run decently on my PC. I do have a lot of games on Steam, most of them I can run at least medium and sometimes high with just a little bit of lag, which doesn't bother me unless it gets up to the unplayable point of lag. I already have read the system requirements, but sometimes you just can't trust them. *cough Sonic Generations* Anyway, here are my specs:

OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i3-3240 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
RAM: 8 GB

Also, should I grab the DLC characters? I haven't bought any characters yet so I still have the ones that came with DOA5U. Are they worth getting? I'm afraid if I buy them I won't use them, however Raidou looks like a cool guy to use when you wanna piss someone off. Also a lot of players seem to be using Honoka and that makes me wonder if she's really that good of a character, though I know she uses recycled moves from others.

About the Steam version, the characteristics of your CPU are all higher than the minimun required from the game, less for the problem that your PC has less cores of the ones onwed from the PC used as reference from Team NINJA (and both of them have 2 logical ones); also it should be very important to know what are the specs of your GPU foir giving you an answer; no problem indeed with the RAM, DoA5LR seems to not require more than 4 GB.

[ @Fiend Busa seem to be one of the people in the forum that know very well the matter, so I suggest you to try to ask to him for getting a certain answer]

By the way not sure if you read the news that DoA5LR on Steam seem to be an hybriud version between the old gen and new gen: it will include alistics of the PS4 version less the particle effects, the Soft-Engine and the new stages "The Crimson" and "Danger Zone". So buy it only if you are anyway interested to the game even knowing this.

About the new characters being worhty to be bought or less, this is something very subjective so I don't think that I can be helpful. But remember anyway that if you plan to buy the Steam Version the 5 extra characters are already included. So, unless you weren't asking this for the PS3, there is really no reason for you to have this doubt.

Thanks for answering my question about the characters. I'll just wait for the Steam version to be released, that way I can save more money and get it instead of getting them on the PS3 and have to wait and save up more. Also, for the Steam version, what exactly do you mean by it being a hybrid? I understand it being old-gen and new-gen, but are you saying that the Soft Engine, particle effects, and stages are not going to be included?

Sadly yes :(

Two days ago were reported the infos for the Steam version that show as the game will be able to work with higer resolution, antialiasing and shadow effects from the PS4, and of course will include all the 34 characters. Anyway soft engine, particle effects and the 2 new stages will not be included. This make me doubt also about another matter, if the next DLC stages that TN hinted could happen in future will be released even on PC...

For the official page reporting the specs, see here: http://teamninja-studio.com/doa5/lastround/us/info_steam_spec.html (PS: The soft engine is not listed, but in the Japanese version of the page can be seen as it's clearly mentioned that is absent from the steam version).

I would highly advise you to only get this game on Steam as part of a sale, best with a hefty price reduction. They are not doing well in their way of handling the PC community and shouldn't be rewarded with money, especially since you can play on the PS3. Another thing to note is that PC won't have Online Mode for 3 month or so after release.

That said, once you pick it up on PC (if ever), and networking is working (and usable), hit me up, I'm on PC and would love some sparring partners to play with :)

Thank you, I will look at that link.

Thanks for this information too. I haven't been all caught up with the latest news on the PC version, which is part of why I asked this question. I'll stick with the PS3 version for now and pick up the PC version somewhere down the road. Also, http://steamcommunity.com/id/LickTheFart this is my Steam profile if you wanna go ahead and add me on there. I figure you have one since you mentioned you're on PC.

I recommend waiting to see if the PC version has good modding potential. I'm keeping my preorder despite the backlash to see what it's capable of. If it does have a good engine to mod with, I highly recommend getting it while ignoring the DLCs (unless there's a costume you really like distributed by them)

People theorize that the PC version is based off of the arcade version. Regarding soft engine or particles, someone will come up with a mod. The potential of the mod-ability of this game, in my opinion, is the selling point.

It's not a supposition, the same Team NINJA stated this:

@TeamNINJAStudio

We are building the game based on Arcade ver. But it's not simple Arcade ver port as you know. RT @msgraphics2009: @TeamNINJAStudio (next) please have the steam page change to DOA5 Last Round (arcade version). I think it help.
