they want Ukraine not the US, making a move on us JUST to get to them would be insane and i doubt our military leaders would use the draft on anything but a defensive battle after Vietnam

Then why pull from NATO? Ukraine isn't even a member, yet.

And that is a good reason for the US to go to war. Right now the world trades using the US dollar. If others join, the US will have to pay off their debt to maintain the dollar, since the dollar will no longer be needed. Under the guise of protecting Ukraine, the US will go in to protect it's economy. Not to say that we don't deserve it, but we almost have to go to war over it. It'd be like the civil war: it wasn't about slavery, it was about states' rights to succeed and choose another way if they didn't like the way it was going.

Russia would have to do something pretty direct to move the people to war after Iraq and Afghanistan. you saw what happened when we almost went at it with Syria the entire populace pretty much told Obama to fuck off.

Congress is facing the potential meltdown of their accounts. They'd much rather vote YES to war and loose their jobs, rather than vote NO and loose their jobs and their accounts.

congress can vote whatever they want, we wont tolerate a draft let alone another war. they would be wise to listen to us unless they want issue on the home front, we kept hold of our guns for a reason.

I heard somewhere (i'm having trouble finding the exact details, but it came from some reliable sources) that congress passed something somewhere where UN troops or something can come in to help police in an emergency. Unfortunately for america, americans generally aren't that much more willing to fight than the Syrians to match the added pressure not to. People will keep their guns, but we're not going to form an organized resistance.

all you need is a tragedy, without a justification to pull the trigger most wouldn't fight, with one you got another civil war

You give the common folk way too much credit. I've tried rallying people, telling them X, Y, and Z. Telling them about the martial law drills, etc. Surprise, surprise. All people say is, "well, i wish those welfare bums wouldn't have voted for Obama. He's just gonna kill us all anyway" or something totally dismissive along those lines, and also without a patronizing tone. People are just too lazy to care, because, right now, it's not them. At the risk of evoking Godwin's law, the same thing happened in Germany with the Jews. It happened in China with the "enemies of the state," and very clear at Tiananmen Square. There's just no hope for people who are afraid to fight for anyone other than themselves: they'd even rather give up their freedoms than fight for them. I can't even convince these people to register to vote.

They can take Crimea, but I doubt they will touch Ukraine. Even the Russians know they are playing with fire.

If that's the case, what are they really doing? Seeing if we'll take the bait? Taking a hell of a gamble just to humiliate Obama? Holding Ukraine hostage so we leave Iran and Syria alone?

None of the above. What I really think is going on is that Crimea is going through an identity crisis where like half of the pop are indigenous Russians and the other half are Ukranians, and the Russian Crimeans want to unite with Russia. That's how I see it, though I could be wrong about the whole situation. It is closely similar to how the Nazis annexed Czechoslovakia, instigating WWII. Hopefully it is the former.

Well, with the currency swap, i fear it'll end up the latter. The only solution is if Obama grows a pair and scares Putin into bailing on the whole thing before something goes down that even Putin will wish he hadn't started (though, at this point, i have my money on Putin).
