NOD Subway. . .Yawbus Don.
*Sigh*

If there was ever a single thing you could say about NOD Subway it’s that he had a profound belief in his abilities. Considering that the character his play style was built around was at or near the bottom of every Dead or Alive 4 tier list ever publihed; Where that fortitude stemmed from I had no idea - until this very week. Pulled from the annals of yesteryear comes a character guide authored by Subway more than a 12 months back and republished, by our own Tengu savant, Forlorn Penguin.
By Subways own admission he had doubts about the characters viability: He muses “[As a Tengu player] You are below everyone, Period. Tengu is the least respected character in the Dead or Alive series”, “You have to understand that [As Tengu] will never be in control, you are always at the disadvantage and nothing is certain.”
Yet sandwiched between numerous caveats; and disclaimers; and constant reminders that you’re heading down a dark lonely path, is a guide that is all at once informative, humorous, heartfelt and painful. You really get the sense that this project was the culmination of a 7 year trudge through an endless abyss of disappointment. To choose a path that arduous and to walk it with the amount of self-assuredness that he showcased was admirable – to see what he created as a result is incredible.
So, even though for all his efforts he was never quite able to elevate Tengu past that very bottom rung on the ladder, he was able to create a living recollection and testament to his avatar that should be an example to everyone who strives to interpret and advance the profile of any character in this game.

I'm glad Subway's work got more recognition. It's a really good guide for a really bad character that's a hell of a lot of fun to play and very under appreciated.

Subway is definitely a DOA player that I respect very much, as is anyone willing to (as Subway phrased it in his guide) "Do the Gu".

Anyone interested in seeing some more of Subway in action in DOA4 should check out the videos here.

And speaking of great guides, be sure to check out Koompbala's DOA5 Tina guide which was also linked in the OP.

Also, I love the random "dedication" bit in there, Julius. Hilarious.

If there is a god above, I think Subway's the one I pray to.

He encouraged me to get into the scene, and to put lots of effort into my character. And I have done so with my respective boss characters: Raidou, Tengu, and Alpha. Through his teachings I have become a better player, and a stronger individual as a whole. He taught me to search for your characters tricks, because you never know what interesting thing you will find while playing.

Cheers to Subway!
