Unable to join lobbies from invites or friends list

Hi all ^_^
First time poster but ive followed the forums for a while now.
Love the DOA series, have been playing it for years since DOA1, a friend had brough a copy home from china, and it got me hooked!

The issue i have been having is, in doa 5 (xbox) im unable to join friends games from the friends list or from invites. If the lobby is made publc i can find it no problem.
I was wondering has anyone else had this issue and if so have they found a way past it? I thought the most recent patch would have fixed it but sadly it did not.

Anyway i look forward to your responses and being more active on the community!

thanks again

Yup ive been having this issue since day one. The only remedy ive come across is that if you join the game when every is idle in the lobby, you'll get in no problem

I don't have this problem, but the problem I do get from time to time is the game like to not allow me to join(or create) lobbies. It also do the same when I try to do simple/rank match where it gives me an error "unable to join player" or some crap. Although it can be a full bar lobby I'm trying to join. Usually it forces me to get off the game and come back later. Another annoying thing to add to the already crappy online list.

Okey people, this problem is probably related to your ADSL-router/modem and xbox Live. I had it, and fixed it after lots of trial and error. First, you need to check your xbox network connection. Go to the dashboard, system and network settings. Run the test for the xbox live connection. If everything checks out fine, your problem is somewhere else and I can't help you.

BUT if you get an error message that says something about NAT settings, try to do the things Microsoft suggests, like forwarding ports and all that in your ADSL-modem's settings.

If none of those help (port forwarding helped me but only temporarily, then the problem came back) you need to change your modem/router from a "routing" connection to "bridging" (or "bridged") connection. The difference between the two is that in routing mode the ADSL-modem acts as a LAN server that routes the LAN and WAN (=internet) traffic between all your computers, the xbox, and the outside world. In this mode xbox live can have a hard time accessing your xbox, because the ADSL-router"server" is in between your xbox and the internet. In bridged mode the ADSL-modem only frowards the traffic back and forth like a dumb hub, so the setup is much simpler.

If you want to try the bridged mode of operation, go to Google and find out how to change the settings for your particular ADSL-modem.

It's a coding error, has nothing to do with the routers.

Also, if you have brighthouse/timewarner, good luck bridging your modem. The minute you plug that coaxial cable back in its going to flash the modem back to the settings set by BH/TW.

There's a simple way to see whether it's related to xbox live or to DOA5. Try to form a party with your friends: if successful, the problem is related to the game. If not, it's related to the ADSL-router and you can try out my advice. And naturally if you get an error message while testing out the network connection in xbox live's dashboard, the problem isn't with DOA.

Thanks for the replies.
I know a fair bit about networks and pc (i would need to as i worked with them) and everything that I thought was the issue i tried to resolve, opening ports, changing necessary settings on router etc. I still get the issue, my nat is not restricted and open, so like someone mentioned its clearly something to do with the games netcode.

I thought that the patch would have fixed this, clearly im wrong, and im going to assume thats its not such a big issue for the community and thats the reason it wasnt included in the patch.

Its very annoying when you cant join your friends from the dash etc, especially when they rooms are set to private and the only way in is invites.

Anyway thanks for the replies, I currently dont think there is anything that can be done to fix this, but if anyone magically finds something that works feel free to post in the thread!

Thanks again

In order to accept and join friend invites, you have to be on the main offline menu screen, otherwise the game will freeze.

This has so far worked for me every time. I join from the main menu and I've been able to get in every time. If I join from the online menu it gets stuck at the loading screen.
