So my xbox 360 slim 250Gb keeps freezing. Randomly in the middle of a game it will freeze. It is not overheating at all because i leave a enough open space and now suddenly any time i hit the guide button it freezes, but it stopped doing that after about the 3rd reset. Anyone know how to help me fix this. Its recently getting a lot worse.

Your xbox is probably about to red ring. Same thing happened to my friend with his elite. It would freeze alot and then eventually it just red ringed on him.

NOOOOOO I sold my old xbox too and it was fine but i wanted the slim since there was this deal at gamestop. Right now its working fine though, so i hope it stays that way. I have a second xbox downstairs so i guess ill just have to steal that from the living room. And why would it get red rings, i keep it safe, clean, ventilated and i barely even touch it. Stupid xbox's, this is the 5th xbox too!

It's just the way they are designed is done very poorly. Even though the newer models are less prone to break they still have the overall design flaw.

Ironically I've been through 3 xbox's (launch, elite, slim) and not a single one of them has red ringed on me but I've had 4 PS3's break on me. Guess I have odd luck? lol

oh dang that sucks. Since they didnt get red ringed, what happened to them? And what systems do you have right now, that are working?

I gave away my other two xbox's to my friends. As far as I'm aware both of them still work and I currently still have my S model 360. I had a slim ps3 when I was deployed but I sold it after I found an original 60gb ps3 on EBay which is what I currently have. It's been running strong for 2 years now so hopefully it stays that way lol. If it breaks again I'll just get another slim ps3 and a ps2.

My friend with the launch console never plays it so I actually wouldn't be surprised if it red ringed if we tried to turn it on lol. He's always been a pc purist anyways so I guess its whatever. Me giving him my original 360 was kind of an attempt to get him to play some of the exclusive games that never make it to pc but oh well.

Dont worry. I have bad luck with any kind of technology. Ive had 2 ps2, 2 gamecubes, 5 xbox's, broke tons of phones and portable dvd players. I guess its just not meant to be.

I've never really had a console break on me before this gen. Well I guess the disc read error for the ps2 could be considered a broken console but that was a annoying more than anything. After 2-3 tries it would read the disc so technically it still worked lol. I still play my dreamcast and it runs like a charm. I have a NES and a SNES as well as a genesis in my closet that I bring out once in awhile to play and they all still work to.

You don't even have to blow in your cartridges?!

Weird. I had to actually make love to my Super Mario 3 cartridge just to get it to work. Had to take her out to dinner and everything afterwards.

The NES (original, not the top-loader) had a design flaw with the pin settings. Since they're springs, eventually it will make it more difficult to start up a game. "Blowing" in the cartridge won't do anything if the connectors in the back of the system won't work. It's why when they released the top-loader version they said that it wouldn't have the "blinking screen" 99% of the time, because you weren't bending the connecting pins. What do you think you're doing when you push the cartridge down?

As for your 360 issue, I believe Microsoft's warranty is 1 year from manufacturing, so just give them a call about it. Replace the harddrive by putting it into your 4GB model, and use the 4GB model with your harddrive until your original 250GB model is returned fixed from Microsoft.

Remove the power cord for 1 min, plug it back in and see if it continues.

Yes... you should also consider submerging your AC brick in cold water. This will "relax" the circuits and help to prevent the console from freezing, stuttering, and general mid life crisis.

Yeah i switched it. Now the downstairs xbox slim has no hard drive at all. But now this xbox is really loud when i play DOA. Just my luck.

Update: It was way too loud, i tried other games, all of them were installed yet it still was really loud and hot, but it never froze, i still switched it back again. I couldnt stand the loud fan, felt like i was gonna break this one too. But 250Gb one right when i turned it on it froze. This all started getting worse once i started playing DOA4 again. It works here and there, but goes through freezing phases.
