Ayane (DOA2)

Ayane is Kasumi's half-sister, a Ninja destined to live in the shadow of her older sister. A great hatred burns for Kasumi within Ayane. An expert in Ninjutsu, her deadly fighting style has given her the nickname "Female Tengu." She joins in the Dead or Alive World Combat Championship as an assassin in pursuit of her traitor sister, Kasumi, who left the Mugen Tenshin clan behind. Although she would never admit if, Ayane admires Hayate, Kasumi's brother.

There are four different ways to progressively unlock costumes in Dead or Alive 2: HARD･CORE. System 1 and System 2 unlocks are permanent across the game system, regardless of User Personal System (UPS) data. However, the UPS system is designed as a portable system to take your PlayStation 2 memory card to another player's or tournament system to keep track of user tracked data. As such, unlocking through the UPS system would provide your user data the unlocked costume regardless of the system's status for costume unlocks. So, for example, if the system only has up to C3 unlocked, and the UPS data has up to C4 unlocked, logging into the UPS data for the match will give the option to select the character's C4. However, if the system has C4 unlocked, and the UPS data has only C3 unlocked, then any player regardless of UPS can select the character's C4. It is because of this, that it is advised to unlock through either System method. System 1 and System 2 unlock criteria should be looked at as a Primary and Secondary criteria. The same is for whether the player is using a UPS memory card save or not. The player is able to unlock the costume once any of the criteria is first met. Lastly, the player cannot unlock a costume until the previous costume has been unlocked. So performing the System 1 unlock criteria for Ayane's C8 (Acquire her Legendary item in Survival mode) will not unlock her C8 unless her C7 has already been unlocked.


Beat Story mode on the required difficulty or harder. Alternatively, collecting all 66 items from Survival mode will unlock all characters' costumes.
