No more reason to keep buying Xboxes...

Anyone else buy them solely for Itagaki's games? I mean the first Xbox ended up getting some nice Sega exclusives but the 360 is mostly an oversized paperweight to me.

So those are going in my closet in the 'Itagaki era section' and from here on out I'm getting the Sony version of everything (better controller, free online)

How's about yous?

DOA4 was my motivation to getting an Xbox 360 at launch; you people have no idea how excited I was for it and just how burned I felt once the initial "wow" factor wore off. Regardless, the XBox 360 has been an absolutely great platform with tons of games, of which I own close to 100. So, I will have to regretfully disagree with the OP.

ps3 online sucks free or not. I hate paying for xbox but in the end its just plan better. Plus 2-3 frame lag on 2d fighter then going online and getting more. Just not worth it. I sold my ps3 and have never looked back. The majority of the FGC has even moved over to xbox. Other then EVO, most tournaments run it now. The only issue the xbox has ever really had was the RROD. Which hardly ever happens anymore. Ps3 controllers suck just as bad. You hands cramp after using for long periods of time. The xbox d-pad sucks but that is about it. It is still a better fit to your hand. Over all price is better on xbox as well. Now that you can use thumb drives for memory the 4gb is worth it. The reason the ps3 sold as good as it did was the whole blue ray+. Now days no 1 cares. Streaming and downloading movies is better and cheaper. Microsoft knew this and never worried about adding blue ray to it. I believe that when the new console are revealed around 2015 neither will have blue ray players.

if they were to go the blueray path it would be simply for storage reasons ...
but who the hell knows .. maybe by 2015 you'd have some shit like purple ray or something ...

as far as consoles go .. never had an issue with the pads seeing that im a stick user .. but .. i do like the xbox online service alot better all in all ... plus i like the range of games on it more ... (FEZ all the way .. lol)

Since Blu-Ray is Sony's pet property, it's almost guaranteed that the next Playstation will continue with the format (especially for potential backwards-compatibility features).

I personally would be surprised if Microsoft manages to get a BD-drive for their next console, as I don't see Sony granting them license to it without SIGNIFICANT cost. I expect the next Microsoft console to bank HEAVY on digital distribution, and possibly requiring games to be installed to be played (ala PC). .

I anticipate shitty cloud-streamed game consoles that you don't actually own in the future.

I also anticipate PC's making a pretty big comeback when that happens.

I won my launch 360 console drinking 6 bottles of Mountain Dew. Six friggin' bottles of Mountain Dew. Had that not happened, I would most likely be 2 years behind owning a 360, and possibly a Sony fanboy by then if my old man bought good games to go with my then-owned PS3 on the holiday it was launched (which I eventually gave to my sister out of loss of patience).

But after what I know now, my thoughts are the same as Rikuto's. I too am feeling deprived of hope on this new twist in the next gen "consoles" from a business perspective. I can't even be cautiously optimistic. For the first time, I'm not having that "take my money" feeling; I guess you can say I'm starting to see the light. Hell, I might end up actually buying a Wii U and going back to my old hobby: Collecting stuff and playing farming games like Animal Crossing. (Don't judge me, dad-gummit! >.<)

Heres what sold me on the 360

Sequels to 3rd party OG Xbox exclusive titles
Halo
Bioware Exclusive Projects (Mass Effect and Dragon Age)
Mistwalker (Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey)
Fable
Rare's next Gen titles

Well at the end of the generation JSRF, Shenmue, Strangers Wrath, and Stubbs the Zombie never got follow ups, Bioware is now a multiplatform developer, Fable lived up to very few of its promises, Mistwalker is basically dead, Halo is being milked for all its worth, Rare did nothing of note and the console seems to be shifting into a more casual direction with very few core titles to appease any of Microsofts target demographics.

And all this shit about digital downloads makes me want to pull my brains out my ass with a hanger - I WANT THE DISC! I want to know that when I buy something, its mine and I can play it anytime I please.

Straight up, when the new consoles drop I'm just going to buy a PS3 and play through all of their exclusives that I missed out on.

E3's going to make or break the Wii U for me and a lot of other people. Nintendo's in a really weird position right now and I'm curious as to how they'll do things. I'd like to pick one up but I've been burned by the Wii U and 3DS.

I'd rather play online on xboxlive than PSN. I don't know what it is, I've had BBCS, SSF4, SC:IV and T6 for both consoles and it seems to just lag hella more on PSN than xboxlive (the lag on SC:IV PSN was unbearable compared to xbl). I believe the psn store doesn't get updated on regular basis and, downloadable multi-platform/add-ons are on xbl before PSN. Example would be KOFXIII, I believe all 3 DLC characters were delayed on PSN. Both PS3's and Xbox360's fail at somepoint. I've had a xbox360 that RROD and a PS3 that YLOD. The only thing I like about the PS3 are the controllers and chargers. I've never had one PS3 controller that died, or charging stopped working. I've had to buy mutiple controllers for 360/charge and play kits (which die eventually)

Sony does not own blu-ray.

I blame the Kinect for this lol.

Gonna blame Viva Pinata and Nuts and Bolts on the Kinect too?

The only thing Rare put out this generation that was FUN (in my opinion) was JetPac Refueled and some how, some fucking way, they never got a follow up despite selling a couple hundred thousand digital downloads.

Viva Pinata was a farm sim that was supposed to appeal to children but the gameplay was so brutally unforgiving that I know of few adults who had the patience to make through a few hours of that game.

Nuts and Bolts was ok for what it was but even then that game wasn't what anyone wanted.

And what did Rare put out last gen. . .Grabbed by the Ghoulies and Conker Live and ReLoaded.

The fact that their haven't been follow ups to Jet Force Gemini and Killer Instinct is a blessing because god knows, nowadays, all thats keeping me from drilling a peep hole into my temple is the lack of "Party" games shitting on the things I held sacred as a child - and don't think someone at Rare isn't at this very moment waxing philosophical about the social allegory of TJ Combo playing flag football with a mother fucking Buzzelgum.

Console War....jazz going on around here, what is this gamefaqs? lolz i kidd

I own a PS3....I'm on my second one....my old 60GB YLOD, but replaced with a 500GB slim PS3.
My brother owns the 360...he's still on his first...it Red Ringed countless times but is still kicking...

I have a fine collection of games and im content with playing KOFXIII and SFxTK online on PSN...it's not as bad like people make it sound.
Playing on XBL is smoother and stuff but the online community is far worse and annoying on XBL.

I don't agree with the OP as I respect the 360 as a console and it's a damn good piece of hardware...though like anything else, has it's problems. Personally Im a Lastation....err Playstation guy myself but I'll still recommend the 360 if I think it suits your needs better then the PS3.

Nonetheless, I still see it unlikely that Microsoft's next console implements Blu-Ray.
What other options do they have? HD-DVD? That's dead. They'll license out Blu-ray because that's just the way the tides have turned. Nintendo's the only one I see not using Blu-ray and instead using their own concoction because Nintendo hates licensing fees.

Those are both really well received games. You may have not personally liked them, and neither did I, but that doesn't change the fact that a lot of people did. I still want a proper Banjo-Kazooie sequel though...

As I said above, I expect Microsoft's next console to bank heavy on digital distribution, and also be setup to require installs of games to play (similar to PC). Standard HDDs of good size (500GB, 1TB, etc) are just getting cheaper and cheaper each year. You don't really need Blu-Ray discs when the game is run primarily from the install (note, PS3 did its installs strictly to compensate for its slow BD drive speed, which likely won't be an issue with their next console). If the PC market can still get by with not needing BDs for its high-demand games, then I don't see it being out of the realm of possibility for a console to follow that example.
