I honestly don't know why everyone is complaining. The whole point people wanted Tengu in the game in the first place was because of his moveset, no? Well, Team Ninja obviously wants to bring in BRAND NEW characters into DOA5U(A). If this is a brand new character with Tengu's moveset, then I see it as a win-win situation with everyone. Team Ninja was able to do it with Rachel by giving her most of Nicole's moves, so why can't they do it with this new iteration of Tengu? People call me self entitled, but I bet people will flip shit once they reveal this new character and it's not the original Tengu.

Every fighting game has characters that don't make a return once they've served their purpose. Tekken no longer has Gon, every new Soulcalibur game doesn't have their guest/bonus characters from past games in newer installments, Street Fighter doesn't have Karin or R. Mika (T_T), etc. The list goes on an on. While it might upset people that their characters don't make future games, it's quite silly to whine about a character not making the cut because stuff like this happens all the time. At the end of the day, Team Ninja is out to keep DOA5U(A) fresh and exciting. What makes more sense? Adding BRAND NEW characters to attract new people? Or adding an unforgettable boss that I can guarantee hardly anyone would purchase?

That's just my take, but I know somebody in here is going to come at me sideways.
The whole point was not just the moveset. It was both the moveset and the character himself. Missed all the people quoting his strange lines and talking about his goofy appearance fondly, have you?

They gave Rachel most of Nicole's moveset because Rachel the character was highly requested, and Nicole couldn't be brought onto a Playstation DOA game seeing as she was a property (I believe) of Microsoft. Or at least the Spartan image was.

Fighting games should never delete characters with unique movesets. Never. Story is only important until it's over. Then you're just fighting. Why limit the consumer's options in that regard? Please, don't accuse others of any sort of whining. Pot. Kettle. Black.

The poor Kunimitsu has a beautiful face but also big scars (that could be a second reason for wearing a mask in addition to her shinobi nature):

Kunimitsu also used to have a big D... but that's a story for another day.

I see no reason why Tengu couldn't keep his dick at the very least . There were just so many alternatives they could have done that are truer to the character than this. slim him down make him look badass, redesign the face, turn him into a guy with a mask. Why is the solution to everything tits

A character is more than just a moveset

It's not "always" though <_<

I couldn't agree with this more! It still baffles me to this day why the Soul series ditched not just the characters, but the complete move-sets including the likes of Zasalamel, Talim, Yung etc. Same applies with Tengu here imo. If you already have a unique movelist (be it any fighting game) why throw it away completely when you can improve & expand on it?

idk I don't see her fighting like an idiot like Tengu.

Look, I'm excited for a new character-- whether it be Tengu, a female Tengu, a new male, etc. I really don't care. And I'm glad we're being teased with new character information... because there will be a time that for awhile new characters and stages will not be discussed until DOA 6. Which could be awhile from now. So, I'm just glad there is something to talk about, even if it brings about an unhealthy debate.

I feel like I'm gonna really love this character. I always liked japanese masked character types.

Kunimitsu is one of my favorite Tekken characters and Murakumo is one of the characters I'm looking forward to the most when Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus releases to the west this fall.

Hopefully she turns out great

Okay yak now how I constantly say I want Nicole back, even though Rachel inherited portions of her move set? I imagine its the same for tengu players. Its the character people want, not just the move set.

Maybe this character is part of some Tengu clan and is an enemy to the ninja's. I do think she'll fight simular to Tengu but in a more ninja like way

I wonder how old she'll be

God, people are never satisfied in any game's FGC. At least Team Ninja is willing to make a new character that inherits an old's character's moves. They could have easily skipped bring over anything Tengu, but no, they appeased the fans and are giving you something Tengu related. Be it a new Tengu, a Female Tengu, or Ayane in a Tengu mask, they obviously are catering to the Tengu camp in some way. They know people are not going to like it, but they also know that the causal population will most likely purchase the character because it's a brand new character to DOA. Will Tengu players purchase it? Most likely, they will because it's still a spiritual successor to Tengu. But if not, then Team Ninja will be fine because of the casual fan base.
