Man that's Guilty Gear level quality... I'd love to try sprite art sometime, any tips or resources you can recommend?

Thank you for the compliments. This was my starting point http://2dwillneverdie.com/tutorial/a-basic-sprite-tutorial/. It was really helpful to get the outline done. I don't know if I liked his coloring and shading technique, but it was a good way to get a solid base base and tweak it.

Basically I just used my capture gear to get a pose I liked off DOA5U.

Then I loaded it into photoshop and traced over her outline with like a 4 or 5 pixel brush. Then I used that site's technique to get the 1 x 1 lineart.

I made her face a little more anime-like because I was having a hard time making the in game face look good at a low resolution.
Then I filled in the flat colors and used his technique to get shading, but it's kind of a confusing process. Admittedly I used Motoko from Blazblue as the reference for skin tones, because I am terrible with skin tones. For color and size I did reference BlazBlue sprites a lot.

To color the outline I locked transparent pixels on the layer settings...that way you don't draw extra, you just change the color of the line.
Awesome. I'm gonna hafts do that with c6 when I get my computer back.

Thanks dudes, I will definitely give it a go this week. The threshold trick is especially cool, I could probably convert some old drawings to pixel art with minimal effort

Yeah that was the coolest thing I learned from this whole process.

"See you bitches later!"

Sounds exactly like Hitomi. This is why I can absolutely stand fanfic.
Yeah characterizations are out the window for doujin and whatnot. And most fanfics.

But then, Same goes for the actual game lol.

But that stuff still has some of the better art.

Judging by dlc...I'm honestly surprised they don't have those as actual in game grapples at this point.

Either way I find it hilarious how out of character it is.

Like when you see fan art of Renamon with giant tits. (Renamon is a Child stage. "No its an adult renamon". Then it would be a Kyubimon, the adult stage. Your fanfic makes no sense.)

I had to google what "Renamon" is. Now that I know, the idea that people are paying attention to its breasts in fanfiction, I am despondent.

Anyway, back to DOA art, please.
