My issue with Itagaki is that he acts as if earlier DOA games didn't have bikinis or sexy costumes in them. DOA1 had bikinis in them. Then he made the DOAX series for the people who only liked DOA for the female characters, but not the fighting game aspect of it. But then he gets mad that DOA5 has the bikinis and the Private Paradise videos within the game. How can his "daughter" be ruined when these elements were in the series prior? When his whole shtick behind DOA was the girls to make it stand out from VF and Tekken? Where is the issue of sexualization coming from all of a sudden when these elements have been in DOA from the beginning? And who is really complaining? It's not stopping people who want to go out and play the game competitively from doing so.
Well, DOA1 had bikinis. DOA2 didn't have bikinis as costumes (but had the CG gallery with them). DOA3 didn't have any. DOA2U had them (but I think it was to promote DOAX). DOA4 didn't have any (that I can recall). I think that's right. I may be wrong.

So, if that is right, you can perhaps see a gradual shift in ideology over time. And while people can go out and play the game competitively if they want, getting new people into the game may be difficult due to the excess fanservice, like CFW said. That might be something worth complaining about. Now, every game is not going to be for everybody. But, it can be good to talk about what is and isn't needed without utterly turning DOA into a different game series.

like look at what they did to Ayane's xbox outfit, they sluttied it up because leaving it the way it was "wasn't good enough" they literally HAD TO RUIN IT.
This is a very salient point. Look at outfits like Tina's and Leifang's legacy outfits, and Ayane's Intimate outfit. There may be others that I'm not remembering. These were all outfits from previous games, but in order to be brought back, they felt that they had to change them to make them even more risqué. Why? Well, it's easy to assume why. But, was there really something wrong with them before?

Honestly, I have been thoroughly disappointed with most of the dlc we've been given for Ultimate. I've bought only a few costumes out of all of it. I would love it if we got BETTER ones like stuff that would actually be more practical in a fighting game. That would help to balance out the sexy outfits and such of which I do not disapprove of completely, I just think that the number of them is excessive. I would be fine if each girl had anywhere from 1-3 fanservicey costumes mixed in with there other ones. This game has always had a great emphasis on the girls and there's nothing really wrong with that. It's what set DOA apart from other fighters. But despite Team Ninja saying that they were gonna tone it down, they actually got worse with all the fetish wear they released. Hell the best costume pack Ultimate had imo was the casual one. It was a very welcome relief.

Leifang: Not enough underboob and not enough titties showing
Ayane: Not enough underboob in an outfit that didn't even have a zipper to begin with
Tina: Wasn't skimpy enough for Team Ninja to think it'd sell
I used to love that Ayane outfit :( And now it has undercleavage. It actually prevented me from buying it. And then also calling it "Intimate." There are a lot of implications to that word and then bringing that outfit into it. What context would Ayane wear that to be "intimate?" Either emotionally or physically? (rhetorical)
She would feel humiliated even if she was comfortable with her body. My favorite part was the suspenders and I can't even look at that. The stylishness left. It just looked ridiculous. Maybe it was always ridiculous but hey I thought it looked cool in DOA2. But, I don't wanna get into it.

No one needs to respond to this lol I don't care enough. That outfit's already dead to me.

I don't even understand why they put two pull tabs on the zipper on that Ayane costume. How does that even work??????

For those that were lucky enough to not watch the Famitsu live stream last night, you should know that apparently it's the en vogue thing to literally spend more time looking at the boobs and panties during the win pose than actually fighting. Big surprise, right? But, ya know, the players were super-noobs anyway. Someone did pick Honoka, though ("KAWAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII").

And there was a dude in a bra and a sexy fetish cop that was giving punishment to the losers. Plus the scene where she was "posing" while the camera moved around like you can in the game.

But, the fun part was that Hayashi was there to talk about the collectors edition and the first-print bonuses. He showed off the Marie Rose boob mouse pad ("KAWAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII"). And he was sure to assure the room that even though Honoka didn't have any bikinis in game, she would if you got the first print, as well as the AWESOME gravure video. So, he's going through a slideshow with images of the first-print outfits, and then the new ninja outfits come up. And Hayashi was like "Oh, yeah, I forgot about these costumes."

Abandon all hope.

I swear, all of Japan is now barred from saying the word "kawaii" in my presence for the next week lest I slap them.

Has Hayashi ever talked about the actual game? It seems like all he does is showcase the ecchi nonsense

If it's not about the new titty engine or something he doesn't seem to care. Hopefully TN brings someone in for 6 to slap his shit whenever he opens his mouth, though I doubt they will. Sex sells after all!

I usually like to look at the big picture.

The big picture is:
This is a game we play for our amusement. There are many games. A lot of games don't have the sexy characters (yes, this includes sexy men in bathing suit too, btw) DOA has.
Examples: Shovel Knight, Minecraft, Age of Wonders 3, Call of Duty,...

I think there's a place on this world for this game with these sexy characters, and I personally really like it. It's in my nature to like things like this, and since it's not all that exists nor forcing anyone in any way I think it's perfectly fine. Really.

Werewolf, I want to say this because I gave it some thought, remembered Honoka's ENG and JPN trailers and I want to say this:

Where was this all marketed to? Because only the JPN version actually showed off the Honoka bikini as well as the Japan only deal.

I believe that to the contrary, TK and TN KNOWS of the issues with the Western countries and this game and is apparently toning it down some when it comes to stuff like that, to be my french.

Although this doesn't stop other people in the West from doing it because reasons...

Erm...please don't get the wrong idea...but is there a recording of the Famitsu stream, just for the sake of completion, I mean (I watched all streams so far)? >.>

Also, Koei Tecmo is clearly advertising the game differently in Japan and here in the West. The Western trailers had no beach gravures and no Marie Rose bikinis, but other stuff and these little teaser trailers for the first contest costumes are exclusively promoted at Koei Tecmo's and Team Ninja's Western websites. So, I'm fine with the Japanese having all the ecchi stuff, if we get something else. To each their own. :)

I don't mind the sexualization as it is part of the game but I am concerned with the type costumes used (bikinis, bunnysuits, nurses, maids, cops, leis covering tits, etc.) Those types of costumes are too bland and derail the sense of an awesome 3d fighter out of it.

If they want to maintain the hawt, badass women factor in it, TN ought to focus on giving them costumes like these.

getting new people into the game may be difficult due to the excess fanservice
Ah, can't remember the number of times I've seen this.

If anything related to graphics makes it difficult for somebody to get into a game, then it is an utter waste of breath to try to recruit them to begin with. They are unable to see past the graphics fluff because they did not do their own research, such as looking up "doa5u arcade" or "doa5u tournament" for once. And remember, "I do not want to play this game because of the fanservice" is only several words away from "I play this game because of the fanservice". This is not the kind of junk you want to litter the community with. We have had enough of them.
