Team NINJA wants tweets for patch suggestions

I'm sure all of you have heard by now, but some may not.

Yohei Shimbori recently tweeted that the team is looking to the fanbase to see what they would like to have patched in Dead or Alive 5. The following is the official translation tweets from Ninja Gaijin.

[D-YS] As I mentioned last week, I'd like to explain the direction for balancing things moving forward. Please keep in mind that we're still considering what exactly to update, but this should give you an idea how we're thinking.

Direction 1: As a rule, we are not going to do anything that makes all of your practice up to now pointless. We will only tweak things we feel are absolutely necessary.

Direction 2: We will balance aspects we feel are not fair. Moves that are way too strong or which have strange motion, etc. Bug fixes are included in this consideration.

Direction 3: We will not change the concept and importance of keeping each character's individuality. Rather than kill personality to make everyone the same, we'll strengthen the weak characters to make a fair fight.

Direction 4: I will tweet questions about certain aspects to get your feedback.

We will consider your responses carefully when we make our final decisions. Please use the hashtag #DOA5_balance so we can keep track easily. So that's it! This will apply to all territories around the world, so we need to be really careful how we proceed. Also, the content and timing of the update is still being considered. We will let you know when those are set. I know a lot of people will want to deal with online issues first, so I'll touch on that a little here. We will deal with bugs as soon as we find the cause, and we definitely want to improve the overall experience. Different staff members handle bugs and balance, so we can deal with both aspects at the same time. If you don't agree with someone's opinion, talk about it! Discuss things (fight?) amongst yourselves! Use whatever language your feel comfortable in. Japanese, English, whatever! Get ready...FIGHT! (or tweet or...).

So that there is no misunderstanding, please write the reason of your suggestion about balancing (not bugs).

Bring back Hitomi's :K::2::K::P: from DOAD/DOA4 & Hayabusa's spinning dash mid kick :2::3::6::K: from DOAD.

Any character who is weak needs to be buff. (Zack, Helena, Lisa etc...)

Online needs to be patch again and give us the ability to rematch the fight (online).

Fix the buffer system, make sure the inputs response better so that spacing/movement feels way more fluid & to crouch quicker. (FIXING THE THE BUFFER SYSTEM & MAKINING SURE THE COMMAND INPUT RESPONSE FASTER/BETTER IS VERY VERY IMPORTENT ESSPECIALLY FOR TOURNAMEMENTS).

Will it hurt to add custom soundtracks for the PS3 version?

Hitomi's :3::K: needs to be safe if its blocked

Lisa's :K::2::K::K: & :1::P::K::K::2::K: should be safe

Here's what I posted:

- There needs to be more recovery on holds, to keep players from spamming them

- Grappler class characters need to have more recovery on missed ground throws, as they can hold right after missing, which is wrong. Standing throws, IIRC, are different, in that you can't hold afterwards. That's how ground throws should be.

I'm a fan of direction number 3 about making the weak characters stronger as opposed to making the strong characters weaker. This is how a proper fighting game should evolve and is the proper step towards making a good and balanced game.

Only general suggestion I have right now is to increase the speed of crouching in the game. Some grabs are so fast that it is hard to duck them unless you read far ahead, especially online. So if anything can be done about that that would be great.

Let's not immediately call out for buffs on our mains. Let us give the game some time. Biggest grievances are usually discovered later into the game.

Make Akira's :3::4::6::P: a true command input without having to hold :3: down. The command suggests I can simply press 346p and the move will come out, I should be able to do that.

And yes, if not direction 3 then direction 1.

Fix the frame data. Being at minus frames on block is one thing, but being at minus frames on hit if the move doesn't stun or knockdown..........Shit is fuckin' retarded
Ahem........Kasmui's elbow from her :P::P::P::P::P: :(....it doesnt stun or knock down the opponent.

Im actually pretty worried about that patch. The game is pretty well balance and not a single character is broken. The only things i personally wanna see are nerfed holds and sitdown stuns being inescapable. I just hope they dont go on a buffing/nerfing rampage since stuff like that ends always in a mess.

The game isn't balanced, compare someone like Jann Lee to Helena and you will see a drastic difference. I like their approach though, instead of nerfing the strong characters they are going to improve the weak ones.

Although I'd like to see Jann Lee be a little bit harder to use. Right now he takes the least amount of effort to win with or play next to Gen Fu and that bugs me. Ideally the strongest characters should be hard to use, like say Litchi in BBCS2.

Theres is a difference true that but is still at a point where the better player will win. Its not like Jann lee can shoot some kinda laser out of his anus that kills you instantly...

Two players of equal skill the Jann Lee player will dominate the Helena player. People who say that "the better player will win" do not understand the meaning of balance.

While the statement is mostly true, that's not how you approach a game when balancing it. Characters being balanced need to be approached in a way of both players being of equal skill. Simply put the Jann Lee player will have twice as many tools at his disposal than the Helena player will have. That's not balanced at all. Characters like Helena, Lisa, Hitomi, etc... all need to be buffed to better compete with the higher tier characters. As it is right now, any character forced to play DoA4 is going to have an extremely difficult up hill battle against a character that can play DoA5.

The only thing I tweeted and feel they should do is patch the netcode and remaining glitches(those are a given). Add recovery frames to the hold system, and make the active frame window shorter(either like the demo or shorter). Don't nerf anything, and wait months for buffs for high level players can know for sure who and what needs to be buff.

All these other wise outside of that I feel is unnecessary or most likely won't happen. I just focus on what I feel is a must. The rest can wait til DOA6.

ALL DOA6 DOA5 DOA4 DOA3 DOA2U DOAD
