Fightstick or gamepad (360 vs ps3)

Hey I was wondering whether you guys prefer fight stick or gamepad for this game? I watched an absolute battle video and I think the guy called master was using some sort of gamepad.

And do you guys use the regular 360 gamepad? Because I know the D-pad is terrible by default, but the improved 360 gamepad has a much better d pad. Or do you guys play on ps3? lol

Personally I find gamepad to be decent but I have a fighstick from street fighter which improved my game on soul calibur 5, dunno how it will work here.

I've tried to play DoA5 on stick but for whatever reason I can't do it. Rikuto and I both tried it, actually. Didn't work out for either of us and we went back to pad after a couple of hours. I play literally every other fighter on stick too.

Yeah a couple hours won't be able to unlearn pad muscle memory. It took me about a week to play stick going from pad.

I think stick is best if you're new and just starting to play fighting games. That way you can branch out easily and not have to adapt to a new environment if you do start another fighting game.

I play on Xbox pad. When I played in arcades in the early 90s I didn't go to any fancy ones. I went to back alley arcades, bars, etc. (I live in a small town) so the arcades were pretty crappy, and I was lucky if I found 3 usable buttons...So when I went home to my megadrive, pad was heaven. After more than 15 years, I still prefer pad.

Stick. I used to play with the analog XBOX knob and it's terrible for doing :2::8: motions, they always read as diagonals, but that problem went away with Sanwa JLF. I got used to it pretty fast aswell... only problem is the :9: input (not :7:), since it requieres a push with the whole arm, very slow, can't do that counter fast enough.

PS3 Pad. All day, everyday. Every single fighting game ever. To play any game otherwise, as stated in Unlimited Ragna the Bloodedge's theme song, is a "BIG BIG MISTAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!" Although I do play SSFIV and SCIV on the 360 analog, it can't be helped since their D-Pad is utter bullchips.

Stick. I recommend using VF-like button layout.

I think if it improved your SC5 game it will fit just fine for DoA5.

Stick - haven't really got it down yet, but definitely can't play with pad at all anymore. I think the buttons make more of a diff than people mention, and I can play for hours without discomfort. :)

D-Pad. I should add that I hate the PS3 DPad, and find the Xbox one far better. The rare times I get to play DOA5 on my bro's Xbox... oh yeah, baby. Oh yeah.

Oh wow you're the first person that said the 360 d pad is better than the ps3 d pad lol.
The PS3 pad is an abomination. It doesn't even feel like a pad. It feels like an arrangement of bubble-wrap bubbles that never quite pop when you press on them.

Any "rolls" (even as small as 236) I have to revert to using the joystick.

Other way around for me. You just described my own experiences with the 360 D-Pad. To each their own I guess <.<
