If you dont use a wake up kick they'll be at disadvantage. If they time it wrong they'll be hit by a wake up kick.
If you don't wakeup kick and decide to just wake up after they flipped over you, you are at a 5 frame disadvantage. Timing the wakeup kick doesn't work since if you try to wakeup after they flip, you will miss the wakeup kick. Also, if you try not to wake up, you can just be continuously 2P'd until you decide to wake up, then they flip over you and you are still at a 5 frame disadvantage.

Ok anyone with a brain, can wait and see what their opponent is going to do, if you see a tech roll you don't flip, and if the person stays grounded then you use the flip after a moment, once you see movement or even before then. There is no real way to punish this unless the person is just plain foolish with their flips.

But back on the topic a bit, is it fair that some players have these advanced abilities when dealing with the ground game while others do not?

It is fair enough. The only problem is that some people want to remove certain characters ground games, yet they do not realize the character isn't the only one who "breaks" the ground game.

Sorry, but... Is it possible with a d-pad?
Thank you in advance.
Yep. All you're doing is holding block from standing, then switching to block in a crouching position as fast as you can.

That's not as easy as you make it sound. There is risk to trying to flip over someone. It's all moot, wake up kicks are stupid, I don't care how many tools they give people to get around them.

Discussing whether or not the fuzzy backstep should stay is kind of pointless since I'm positive that TN will remove it come January. The only reason it might stay is if it flies under the radar and TN isn't aware of it, because it isn't that prominent in gameplay right now.

That goes for wake ups, too. I've heard they're nerfing them. lol

I already told you how to punish and why they can't do it with impunity. The only way their flip actually gives them an advantage is if you make the mistake.

I have never seen any punishment towards the flipper unless it was due to horrible timing, but this isn't really important so w/e.

The only problem I have with the ground game tbh is when I am on the offensive with a character who doesn't have a flip animation like Sarah, or ground grabs like Bayman. I feel like I'm trapped because often times if my combo keeps me in close I don't have enough time to back out of wake up kick range (which btw, the range is absurd).
That's probably why I don't mind the BDC at all, because it gives you the speed that you need to get away from the kicks. However it is a glitch and I do think it should be changed and perhaps integrated into something else like a more improved back dash.

Invisible tag partner during win pose, like half the time... the other half of the time the bodies are clipping each other. How did that make it past QA

The problem with wake-up kicks in DOA5:

The attacker loses momentum for knocking someone down.

That seems fundamentally flawed to me.

The only way I found to do what you say is holding 1 with the analog and tapping 4 with the cross.
I need an extra hand xD
