    Is this during training or one of the other "offline" modes (Arcade, Survival, etc.)? Chances are that you have it set to "accept" for throwdowns for some reason.

    Don't put too much weight on the online part of this game though. It's the most randomly glitchy netcode I've encountered to date & I've got over a dozen fighters that're online capable.

    What Raansu wrote. The mechanics were originally based off the VF series. I tend to think of DoA generally as "VF Lite", it's much more "pick up & play" friendly IMHO.

    Very annoying! When I fight against the cpu they will block almost all of my combo strings and then try to throw punish me....:-( I don't know why it is so obsessed about throw punishing!

    I have to work on learning how and when to delay! My reactions are kinda rusty also! Any pointers?

    String delay is for baiting. If a string is predictable (e.g. Tina's 7PPP which is all mid-punch), and you delay it, and the opponent happens to hold, you can throw punish them.

    On block, you delay the string to get a counter hit. For example, on block, a string is unsafe, and thus the opponent tries to throw punish you. You stop in the middle of the string, delay it and you'll punish their attempt to throw you since strikes beat out throws.

    Playing doa 5 makes me want to relean doa 4 ! I wasnt aware of it even had a scene back then lol
