this is why you just 6p every time you should punish, although i guess strike punishing someone who's hitting buttons out of minus frames still counts as a punish, lemme reword that as; this is why you just 6p everytime you have a guaranteed punish
Yeah...counter hitting Masher's is easy... although to be fair the fact that I have a working concept of advantage time and they don't makes alil unfair.
I talk shit about mashing out of minus frames but it does have it's legit uses, it can tell you wether your opponents punish game is on point. For example, let's say you do a move that's -9 on block and your opponent blocks it
If you mash but you get hit with a proper punish, that tells you that your opponents punish game is on point and you can't use that move all willy nilly vs them; if you mash and they get hi counterhit, guess what, their punish game is not on point so you might as well take advantageof that
If you mash and you get hit with a 6p, 2p, or something of the like, that means you can get a free reversal on them all day, since you'll recover fast enough to get a counter out and they're not going for the guaranteed punish
Hell yeah, I was watching that vf5 tournament that happened recently and something that I saw a lot were high level players doing minus strings into launcher, and it worked a lot more than it should. It's like "boy if your late on your punish you getting launched"
Even In street fighter you see this alot, although there it's more mashing on hit cause it easier to drop combos in that game so you might as well mash if your getting hit, best case scenario they drop their combo and you steal momentum
@ Camel with 2 thumbs
i don't follow you on the last part when you get hit by a 6P or 2P: " you can get a free reversal ...since you'll recover fast enough to get a counter out "
@jjinkou2 thought I was being clear but sure I'll explain it. In that scenario I was referring to situations where you're at frame disadvantage, but because your opponent doesn't go for the uninterruptible guaranteed punish, you can still get a button on screen, and in a game with 0 frame holds, their lack of throw punishing can work in your favor
You see this online alot, where throw punishing is a lost cause due to delay, so most players opt for a fast string as opposed to an unbreakable punish, which allows for a lot of wackiness
