Well I'll say it, the reason why I dislike the 2d characters is because I hate their mechanics. It's the main reason I don't play 2d fighting games (Pokken might be the only exception). It doesn't mean that I hate the games. Injustice was great when I tried it and SF wasn't bad, though MvC is questionable.

But every time I play 2d's (And I know I'll be wrong on it but this is just from my exp) I feel that I'm just playing a bunch of zoners with high crush/anti-air abilities while they're jumping higher than Michael Jordan. And lord help me if I get to a wall. I know there are ways through it but growing in a 3d environment from the get-go, I can't adjust from 3d to 2d.

Now jump to DOA/Tekken. I see this especially in Tekken (which was why Akuma was damn near broken before T7 even launched). And DOA at times too. I don't welcome any 2d aspect in 3d when I never even wanted to touch 2d's to begin with. But that's my feelings on it. Sorta. But I'll leave that for one's opinion.

LoL... Guile is the main culprit of the Fireball anti-airing tactics.... his special moves exist exclusively just for that strategy... and the nature of his execution naturally pushes everybody to using him the same jerkish way.

@Lulu Yeah they are. But I'm not smiling over it. SF x Tekken wasn't that great anyways. That's probably one of the few things tekken related where I'm not jumping out of my seat throwing money at the computer screen screaming "take my money" for.

Like yo look at Akuma, he looks exactly like his SFIV counterpart, I think Harada is lying. There's no way he made that from scratch lol.

But who am I since I don't work for Namco with whatever the shit they do. I still think Akuma was implemented "too" closely to his 2D counterpart. Geese looks completely new.

@Lulu there's been at least 30 years of street fighter and ppl still complaining about guiles' sonic boom and flash kicks? jeez lousie. just walk forward and block, then when he puts himself in the corner, fuck him up.

That works in KI.... it sure as shit doesn't work in Street Fighter... not with Capcom giving charge Characters better faster & safe projectiles.

lol which street fighter have you been playing? maybe in SFV where reaction blocking is kinda difficult, but that is the basic way to beat level 1 guiles who just walk back and throw fireballs, let them put themselves in the corner and then counter what they do once they're in the corner

if they throw a fireball while in the corner, you should of covered enough distance that you can safely jump on reaction and punish their fireball with a high dmg jump in combo, if they try and jump out, hit 'em with the anti air and get some offence started, if they try doing dash up something in to order to get out, punish 'em for it

lul the recovery on Guile's projectiles was even shorter in SF4, they toned him the fuck down in Sleep Fighter 5

guile and poison had ridiculous recovery their fireballs in SF4, capcom was all like "hey you wanna play a character who's incapable of throwing bad fireballs cause you can always recover quickly enough to anti air? here's guile and poison!" SFV nerfed that shit so you can't actually just chuck booms all willy nilly

If the player as still at level one then does it matter whether they use Guile or not ?

See.... kinda pointless. Wouldn't have been an issue if that was case.

Also while it is possible to jump projectiles on reaction... I can tell you it will already be too late... you WILL get Flash Kicked clean out of the sky.

depends on where, when, and who you're jumping with. if you're jumping in a guile with a floaty jump character like chun li, regardless of where you are on the screen guile should be able to get a flash kick out, except when they're in the corner. if chun li jumps a boom on a cornered guile and they flash kick, jumping HK will cross them up, trade, or beat their flash kick

on the other hand if you're playing a character like Gen, who has an absurdly low and quick jump arc, guile will have a hard time flash kicking after a boom on any part of the screen. it's all about how you approach, walk back throw boom guile is not a auto win, it's just a method of offence that takes some brain power and patience to beat

Pretty sure if you're jumping on reaction you will get anti-aired with at least his faultess Uppercut. You have to predict the sonic boom if you want to come out ahead of Guile in that scenario.
