Dead or Alive 5: Last Round Press Release Reveals Pricing, DLC Details

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round was officially unveiled in Japan at the Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Arcade
Fighting Carnival less than 48 hours ago. Shortly afterward, right before the top eight contenders
squared off at Summer Jam 8, Team NINJA Creative Director Tom Lee took the stage to introduce
North American audiences to the title and let everyone know the platforms the game would call home. Today we have the official unveiling and announcement of the title, along with some major additional information. The unveiling naturally includes the English announcement trailer, so be sure to check that out below before reading on for the details. Yes, that includes pricing.

The game will be launching on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in Spring of 2015. Distribution avenues for the title will vary based on console generation. On PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, it will be available at retail in physical form and through Xbox Live and PlayStation Network as a digital download at a price of $39.99. On the previous generation consoles, the game will come in digital form only and will be priced at $29.99. All currently available characters, including Nyotengu who will see release beginning September 2, 2014, will return, and they will be even more customizable than before.

The new title will offer up over 300 costumes in the package right out of the gate, with new hairstyles and accessory options selectable as well. Perhaps most importantly, any DLC purchased for Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate will be transferable to Dead or Alive 5 Last Round. This will include cross-generation transfer of DLC, so all of you who have moved on to a shinier box under your TV or monitor will not need to worry about losing any purchased content.

So... we're paying 10 bucks more for... graphics? lol. Doesn't really matter to me though since im getting it anyways.

EDIT: DLC is transferable! Nice!

Hah, "zenith". That's rich.

Ok then, I guess I'm set. I might snag some DLC and transfer them to next gen once (and this would take a while) I get PS4. I'm doing this with WO3U and DW8

Hmmm.. I guess there will be no change from DOA5U (PS3) to DOA5LR (PS3) in term of graphics, apart from these particle effects.

If Helena's ponytail on PS4 is changed, I'll buy it.

Gonna assume the cross platform DLC is limited to the next console. Sucks because I don't have an Xbone, but I'll live.

Glad to know that DLC can be carried over, especially since I bought majority of the DLC (up to Tropical Sexy and the new characters). Will probably stick to the PS3 version and get the digital download. I will be curious to see how Last Round looks on the PS4/XB1, however.

By the looks of it, you're going to be catching me on PS4 & Xbox One this time around unless the TOs' say that they're going to run tournaments on PS3/360. Then I'll consider getting 3 instead of 2. Maybe 4 if core fighters pack still exist for PS3.

$30 seems steep for an update. Even Capcom only charged $15 for USF4 and that came with 5 new characters (with proper stories) and 6 stages. There needs to be a cheaper option for people who bought the previous game or a lot more new content than ponytails.

I wonder if they'll do a voucher to get the PS4 version cheaper if I purchase the PS3 version..... throwing $70 down for both seems kinda bad.... especially since it has to be digital for PS3....
