I think people are dreading E3 - I am anyway.

I'm more interested in what Nintendo and Sony are working on than anything.

Steambox and Madcatz Android box don't appeal to me because it's the same thing as what MS is planning...I have a PC, I don't need another.

I'm not dreading it I'm eager to see what Sony brings to the table. As long as one good console is in the game I'm okay.

As usual, PC has the best specs, most customization, great exclusives, Steam support, yadda yadda... it's still the braindead optimal platform for gaming.

Beyond that, I'll probably be picking up a PS4 at some point for certain console-exclusives (Team Ninja stuff, mostly). No way in hell I'll be getting the new Xbox.

It also has the worst optimization. You can't even be sure your fighting game works on stable 60 fps on your configuration without special testing. Other running programs are out of developers' control and can affect performance unpredictably.

The appeal of consoles is that they are (traditionally) cheaper than a top-of-the-line PC and are braindead to use. These things attract many players who gravitate to them, and thus they theoretically have a good/large "community." Additionally, some publishers like them because it's harder (though not impossible) to pirate games on consoles.

With a PC, if the developer knows what they're doing and if the user/consumer knows what they're doing, graphics and performance can always reach higher plateaus than on consoles. Any "randomness" in performance is the result of error, not any inherent performance flaws with the PC as a platform.

Best part of PC gaming is the modding of games. IMO, if Sony ever facilitates modding in their games, and either distributes modding tools via firmware or purchase, people would be ALL OVER IT.

Errors are going to happen though. As I said, PC is a much harder target for optimization and performance testing, it is easier to make errors and leave them in. Also, PC does not have a "default" controller for fighting games. (I don't consider keyboard/mouse as one.)

I agree I've known people to get a game on PC just for the mods.

You keep on bring up controller as if its a problem. Did you overlook his first post where he said he's gonna get a PS4 later down the line for TN games and others.

First of all, at least 50% of games (action adventure & fighting games in particular) on PC these days still have all the coding implemented to instantly map with USB X360 controllers. Since both are products of Microsoft, it works flawlessly.
Secondly, I already addressed that.
Third, what Koomp said.
Fourth, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here, but "errors" can always happen due to software or hardware oversights. This is true for PCs and consoles. Will a good developer combined with a diligent PC player create game-hampering errors? No. A PC user must manage his hardware and software, just as an xbox player can overheat his console or wreck it by manually altering the software. Does it require a bit more effort to maintain a PC? Yes. Does it require more effort for a developer to make their game customizable with different options for better/worse PC rigs? Yes. Will it provide better graphics with better performance if these are done correctly? Yes.

I've yet to buy a pc game in the last few years that didn't have full blown controller support. Even SF4 had plug n play support with sticks and pads.

Edit: Brute beat me to it. That's what I get for not refreshing the page.

I didn't mean support for gamepads and sticks there. Those are very well supported. I meant that PC user do not necessary have a controller, since it's an optional accessory. (Yes, they can buy it if they understand it will make a game playable or more enjoyable.)
