One of the reasons why Tekken gets more respect than DOA..Tekken doesn't milk DLC costumes.
At least DOA's free to play version lets you play for unlimited amount of time without having to pay.
I would love a PC version as well but like others have said the chances of them adding the game to another system at this point are pretty low. Now with the popularity of DOA5U and (hopefully) the growing number of players thanks to the arcades by the time 6 rolls around, the game will be available for every console including PC.

I'm for DOA5 on pc. It's not something I would use myself, but I think there's a market for it. I used to believe that pc gaming was declining until I saw numbers and heard testimonies from various developers over the last few years stating otherwise. Apparently, pc gaming is steadily growing, though I can't say I'm surprised with how shitty and far behind consoles are these days. That includes the "next-gen" (I use that term loosely) consoles.

Honestly, the only reason why SF4 thrives on the PC is because it's popular. DOA5 on the PC wouldn't get the support because it's not as mainstream.

If an indie game like Skullgirls can get it done I don't see how an established series like DoA can't.

If anything TN better hurry to reap the benefits of expanding to PC. Harada recently changed his stance on PC gaming and is soon gonna swan dive into the market.

Skullgirls is hardly popular though. I remember when people hyped up the game so much, but now, I rarely hear anyone talk about it or see anyone play it.

Technically the arcade hardware it runs on is PC based(if it uses the same hardware that Sega uses for VF)

Turns out,a lot of japanese fighting game devs are using arcade boards with PC based hardware and Windows OS.
They could easily port to PC if they wanted to..they're just too afraid.
Now that a handful of fighting games have made their way onto PC..I'm a tiny bit more hopeful.

Seems that Harada is considering Tekken for PC as well. If he does bring Tekken to the PC..hopefully Team Ninja will take notice.

DOA would lose its credibility about the most costumes in a fighting game if they were to release it on PC. Trust me. I got friends that have said the exact same thing.

If Skullgirls,Mortal Kombat, King of Fighters XIII, Naruto UNS3, and Injustice can come out on PC(albeit a little bit late)..then there's no reason DOA shouldn't be able to as well.
Don't forget that this generations biggest fighting game is also on the PC (AE).

Actually, I think that this past generation has proven that there is a market for fighting games on the PC. Just look at how many major games get PC ports. Even Japanese devs, who are traditionally console centric have started to release their stuff on it (e.g. KoFXIII Steam Edition). Combine that with the fact that alot of old classics have been kept alive by strong scene on PC (especially games on GGPO).

What a shitty reason for not wanting the game on PC.

I have friends who play eroge and this doesn't even make sense to me. Pushing that aside though...

I'm all for a PC release.
With the arcade release I'd imagine they had to do some engine work anyway for the game. Someone above (sorry scrolling is hard D:) noted that a lot of the arcade machines are running Windows (or some variation of) on the boards. Seems pretty reasonable to think they'd try this should most of the leg work have been done already.

The convert job all comes down to the code base. How much needs changing for platform specific (generally all your read/write stuff). What extra stuff do we have to include for this platform, etc.

Inside tip: Most developers build the game on PC's built around the current generation hardware. Developer kits are expensive and used primarily for testing builds, which take a long time in some cases to compile. At those game conventions when they are show casing something you're usually just playing on a PC built to XBox/PS3 spec.

So the code base should be pretty decent... it all comes down to platform specific calls and a few other things. By no means am I saying this is simple but its complexity lies in what they've done already rather than what they'd have to add.

I would like a PC version as much as Awesmic loves a Christie trenchcoat:

But think about the decision business wise. ...TN wouldn't need to sell DLC. And they're making a killing off of it. So a PC port is them basically shooting themselves in the foot...

The PC market is open to cosmetic DLC. The biggest opposition to DLC within it is primarily being able to buy an advantage etc.

Just look at games like Dota 2 or LoL where their income is primarily from cosmetic pieces (hero sets, courier skins etc). The problem I'll admit arises with this is that they would want to do their own in game shop... or just use base Steam DLC addons.

It could go either way ultimately but it probably isn't a bad idea to try. Perhaps Yaiba is a test release for PC to see if they will release more.

I'm betting the only reason they don't want to port the games is because of hackers. Just remember that time when TN sued some guys for making some nude mods...
That's what I'm thinking. But I still think they should do it. Seems like fun.

Look at all the other successful fighting games out there that are more popular than DOA.
Do you honestly think that milking costume DLC is the only way to turn a profit? Seriously?

None. It's all 2D fighters. (Edit:Unless you count all PS1,PS2,PSP,DC,and N64 fighting games that you can play on the PC through emulators. XD)

Are you implying that 3D fighters will/should never be on PC?

Im implying the effort it probably takes to maintain 3D fighters. Most games thats 2D is hard in itself and 9 times outta 10 its designed by a different team because its so time consuming.
