What do you think about Akira? His Animations are showing up very abrupt and he makes a very inflexible impression in general imo.

Generally the Virtua Fighter cast's animations aren't as polished as the original DOA cast's. But I can somehow understand that. Fluid, natural animations take a loooong time to achieve. Team Ninja focused more on their own characters and I could imagine, that it proves quite difficult to implement and clean up the animations of a fighting style, that was developed by different developers for a different fighting game.

By the way, I think Marie Rose will be quite the work of art animation-wise. From what I saw so far, Team Ninja took their time with her and polished her really well. :)

As far as satisfying fighting styles go in this game, the best is Rig. Between the movements, damage output, and use of sound, Rig's amazing (short of his throw/hold damage). Jann Lee and Hayabusa are probably tied for second.

Similarly, Ayane's probably the most satisfying female to see in action, with just some weird twisting effects on some of her moves weirding me out. Mila's got extremely satisfying sound and damage output, but it does lack a visual flair (not a bad thing. I like it.), and Kokoro has a lesser overall flair to Ayane, but balances it out with less weird contortions.

Momiji does need a tune-up for 6. She needs more fluid motions, some enhancement to her movelist, and maybe some new stuff out of Tenku/Uzukaze before I would even put her Hayabusa-style aikijujitsu on the level of the rest of the cast. Rachel... you really can't salvage her visually. Maybe alter her audio cues to feel more appropriate.

Momiji walks like a robot. XD

I think we're forgetting how great Christie's fighting style is. Moves like 6K4K to an opponent in midair, 214P, and her running low slide kick just feel good somehow when I use them. Not to mention those lightning fast pokes in combos like 3PPP.

I dunno what u guys r talking about.. the vf characters look, feel, and flow great in this .. so much that, dare i say it, i like the doa5u versions of them alot more than their vf origins (even gameplay wise)

Of course every character's animations are fluid. This is a high profile video game! Virtua Fighter is too. We were just talking about, how several characters (like Rig) stand above the rest though and how the original DOA fighters animations are a little more polished than the Virtua Fighter cast...for obvious reasons.
And I agree with you (everyone will probably) that the VF characters' animation has indeed improved, compared to VF5/VF5FS.

The Virtua Fighter animations you have to take move by move. Some of the moves get updated and look good and some are the same animations from as far back as VF1. Take Akira's DOA low throw for example. That was his VF5 neutral throw. It was cut in FS because it looks so shitty and replaced with the 5T you see in DOA.

For the VF5 characters, for being mostly rough ports put directly to the game, the only thing I absolutely despise about them is slow some of the throw animations are. They look like they're shot in like a claymation style that just all falls together and don't do any damage. It's almost as if they're running at a slower framerate than the rest of the stage around them or the character that they are throwing.

So glad that DOA5U won best update but a little perturbed by their explanation:

"Thanks to a push by Team Ninja themselves, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate was able to steal the Best Update crown from Skullgirls Encore, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, and Street Fighter x Tekken ver. 2013 (each of which have very dedicated fanbases of their own) and walk away with over half of the votes."

They make it sound as if TN had to beg people to vote for them (which obviously isn't the case when almost 6,000 votes went to the game showing that more people like the game then you'd think).

Just a little unnecessary but whatever I'm just glad they won and that's a pretty big step especially on SRK. :)

"A lot stiffer"

Someone doesn't play VF.

well VF IS a lot stiffer than DOa. Or maybe "sluggish" is the right word.

In DOA, the VF characters come across as...twitchy, broken, jerky. Like MvC, seeing a 3d character do jerky 2d movements.

Well, the Izuna takes a few seconds to finish, but it's hands-down the most badass, cool-looking move in the game.

Meanwhile, Mila's tackle... ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

and like brute said, opinions, because I'm the other way around.

Izuna (and most other ninja moves) puts me to sleep while I feel like cheering every time Mila caves someone face in. Its actually more satisfying than Leon's mount tackle, which is something I didn't think could be done.

It pains me that most of the characters don't have childhood photos except for these 4:

I think there's one for Bayman too in his DOA3 ending but I couldn't find an image of it. Could anyone be so kind to capture a screenie of it?

No need to worry, I got Hayate covered. God, he looks more of a woman than his sisters.

Jann Lee, Leifang and Eliot has one too? I never knew there would be more than 6.

Is Eliot's photo like from his DOA4 ending?
