Alright, so I finished my first run of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z. Here are my thoughts:
I will admit that the ending is not all that. However, I do have to say I did have fun with the game. The graphics have that comic-style influence, the gameplay had its moments but it was still playable, and the music was good.
I do have some gripes about this game. The camera angles does need work, the game is short, and the jumping mechanics could have been better.
There are completion bonuses in this game. When you beat the game on the first run, you unlock the Kabuki outfit and also the Ninja Gaiden Z bonus game. The Schoolgirl outfit is also unlockable, but I haven't unlocked it yet. If you beat the game on the hard difficulty, you unlock the Nightmare mode. Nightmare mode is a tough difficulty from what I'm hearing. After beating the game once again in Nightmare mode, you will unlock the final difficulty called Hell mode. Hell mode is the toughest difficulty of them all. I wouldn't recommend anyone playing the game on Hell mode, TRUST me on this one. But if you are up for a good challenge, then be my guest on playing it on Hard, Nightmare, and Hell.
The completion bonuses aren't all that (with the exception of Ninja Gaiden Z bonus game, and some of the costumes) but it does add some replay value to the game.
With that in mind guys, this game gets my completionist rating of.... FI-LAY IT!
That's Finish It for hardcore, Play It for casuals. It's worth a rent if you are curious about this game, or buy it if you are a hardcore fan of Team Ninja's games.
(Side Note: The Completionist is a good web show.)
